Kyle man arrested, charged with murder in Austin fentanyl-related death investigation

HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A Kyle man was arrested and charged with murder Tuesday following an investigation into a fentanyl-related death that occurred in December 2024. According to the Hays County Sheriff's Office, 28-year-old Alan Steve Rodriguez was charged in connection with the death of a 50-year-old man found at an apartment complex in Austin. HCSO said deputies responded to a call in the 700 block of Trinity Hills Drive on Dec. 31 and found the 50-year-old man unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. 'A preliminary investigation conducted by the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division determined that the death was related to the use of fentanyl,' HCSO said. The suspected fentanyl distributor was identified as Rodriguez, according to HCSO's Repeat Offender Program. 'A parallel narcotics investigation into Rodriguez led to the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, THC, marijuana and multiple firearms,' HCSO said. Rodriguez remains in custody at the Hays County Jail on six charges and a total bond of $777,000, including $500,000 for the murder charge. 'This case reflects the Hays County Sheriff's Office's continued commitment to holding drug dealers accountable for the devastating consequences of fentanyl distribution in our community,' HCSO said. Hays County man arrested after being found with ‘significant quantities' of several drugs

HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A 37-year-old man was arrested earlier this week in Driftwood and faces several drug-related charges and is accused of stealing two firearms, according to law enforcement. The Hays County Sheriff's Office arrested Raymond Hartoin, 37, on Tuesday after conducting a search warrant and finding him with 'significant quantities' of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, MDMA, Ketamine, THC, Marijuana, and U.S. currency, according to a release. Deputies also found multiple firearms and ammunition; two of the firearms were reported stolen out of Hays County and Georgetown, HCSO said. HCSO said in a press release that Hartoin was taken into custody after HCSO's Repeat Offender Program, Drone Unit, Interdiction Unit, and patrol deputies executed an arrest warrant and a narcotics search warrant at a residence on Brownson Lane in Driftwood on Tuesday. Hartoin was booked into the Hays County Jail on an unrelated warrant, according to HCSO. He was also charged with 10 counts of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and two counts of Theft of a Firearm. Hartoin's total bonds were set at $254,000, per HCSO. The investigation is ongoing.
