'Dual citizenship ban' sa US, fake news, babala ng PH Embassy
Nababala ang Philippine Embassy sa Washington laban sa kumakalat na maling impormasyon sa social media na naghihigpit o ipinagbabawal umano ng United States ang dual citizens at green card holders. Sa inilabas na abiso, inihayag ng embahada na hindi nagbabago ang patakaran ng US government tungkol sa dual citizenship o lawful permanent resident travel rights. "Please do not make legal decisions, such as renouncing your Philippine citizenship, based on social media content. Renunciation of Philippine citizenship is a serious, irreversible legal action," babala ng embahada. Ayon sa embahada, nagdulot ng pag-aalala sa Filipino communities sa US ang ilang posts na lumabas sa social media na nagsasaad ng pagbabago umano sa US immigration at green card policies. "We urge the Filipino community to verify information through official government sources, avoid sharing unverified content, and report false information to the platform where it is published," paalala ng embahada. "For questions, please contact the Philippine embassy or your nearest Philippine consulate," dagdag nito. PH Embassy warns vs false info on 'dual citizenship ban' in US
The Philippine Embassy in Washington on Thursday warned against the spread of false information circulating on social media that the United States is enforcing restrictions on dual citizens and green card holders. In an advisory, the embassy said the US government has made no policy changes regarding dual citizenship or lawful permanent resident travel rights. "Please do not make legal decisions, such as renouncing your Philippine citizenship, based on social media content. Renunciation of Philippine citizenship is a serious, irreversible legal action," the embassy said. Several posts on the so-called changes in US immigration and green card policies have circulated on social media platforms, causing concern among the Filipino communities in the US. "We urge the Filipino community to verify information through official government sources, avoid sharing unverified content, and report false information to the platform where it is published," the embassy said. "For questions, please contact the Philippine embassy or your nearest Philippine consulate."
