It's a lump sum payment which was announced as part of Budget 2025. Thanks to an increase in that same budget, the amount available is now €2,000 to pay to carers. The Carer's Support Grant can be spent however the recipient feels is best. Only one payment can be made for each person receiving care. Most read in Money For people receiving Carer's Allowance at both full rate and half-rate, the Carer's Benefit payment, or the Domiciliary Care Allowance, the amount is paid in full into your bank account. The payment is made automatically. Am I eligible? But there's good news for those who don't currently receive those payments. You may still be eligible for the June payment, if you meet certain criteria. To meet the standards, you must be over 16 and living full time in Ireland. You must be caring for someone on a full time basis and have been their carer for at least six months. And the six month period must include the first Thursday in June, when the payment will be sent out. You must also be living with the person you care for, or be their primary carer who they can easily contact. During the six months you have been a carer, you must also not be working more than 18.5 hours per week in employment or self employment.
