Ex-Carnivore Guitarist Marc Piovanetti Charged with Sexual Assault of a Minor
The post Ex-Carnivore Guitarist Marc Piovanetti Charged with Sexual Assault of a Minor appeared first on Consequence. Marc Piovanetti, former guitarist for the crossover thrash band Carnivore, has been arrested and charged with sexual assault of a minor, among other offenses. His wife Jennifer was also arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. According to an official press release from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, authorities were notified about a child between the ages of 13 and 16 that went missing from New York City and was believed to be in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Upon investigation, the Fort Lee Police Department located the child at the home of Marc and Jennifer Piovanetti. Per the press release, the encounter is described as follows: 'The investigation revealed that MARC PIOVANETTI, a stranger to the victim, engaged in conversation with the child on TurnUp, a social media application, and made arrangements to meet. MARC PIOVANETTI provided the child with marijuana and sexually assaulted the child in his residence between Saturday, February 22, 2025, and Sunday, February 23, 2025. During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that JENNIFER PIOVANETTI was at home in the same residence at the time of the incident, and she was aware of the child's presence, along with another child under the age of thirteen who was also there.' Marc Piovanetti, 58, was charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault; second-degree luring; second-degree endangering the welfare of a child; and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Jennifer Piovanetti, 50, was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Both Marc and Jennifer Piovanetti are in custody of the Bergen County Sheriff's Office, awaiting an appearance at Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey. This is not Marc Piovanetti's first offense, as he was sentenced to 10 years' probation and registered as a sex offender for the rape of a child under 15 year old back in 2017, according to Daily Voice New Jersey. Carnivore are best known as the band Peter Steele formed and fronted in the 1980s prior to forming Type O Negative. Marc Piovanetti joined the group in 1987, appearing on their second and final album, Retaliation. The band broke up shortly thereafter, but re-formed (with Piovanetti) from 1994 through 1996, and again (without Piovanetti) from 2006 until Steele's death in 2010 . In 2016, Piovanetti and original Carnivore drummer Lou Beato formed a new incarnation of the band called Carnivore A.D., although both have since exited the group. None of the current members were ever in the original Carnivore. In addition to Carnivore, Piovenetti was also briefly a member of the thrash band Crumbsuckers from 1988 to 1989.
