Rep. Anna Paulina Luna rips Daily Beast's 'nasty' headline taking reported exchange with Trump out of context
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., took aim at The Daily Beast's "nasty" headline on Monday that took an exchange she had with President Donald Trump out of context. Alex Isenstadt, Axios reporter and author of "Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump's Return to Power," made headlines with quotes allegedly said by Trump in a sneak preview published by Axios on Sunday. Among the quotes was one he allegedly said to Luna in 2023 offering her the bed on his jet when she was pregnant and feeling ill, though it included a joke about his wife Melania being jealous. "If you need a bed to lay down in, there's one here on the plane. If you feel sick and you need to lay there, you can lay on it. Just don't tell Melania. She doesn't like other women on my bed," Trump said to Luna, according to Isenstadt, who noted in the Axios sneak preview that Trump was joking. Trump's Lawsuit Against Pulitzer Prize Board Members Moves Forward After Judge Denies Temporary Stay Request However, The Daily Beast ran the headline "'Don't Tell Melania': Trump Once Offered Rising MAGA Star His Bed," teasing to readers, "The alleged comments cast new light on the president's eyebrow-raising marriage to Melania Trump." Read On The Fox News App The report acknowledged Luna was "unwell" in the first paragraph but didn't mention the joking nature of Trump's comment until the fourth. Trump Applauds Jeff Bezos' Changes At Washington Post In Rare Media Praise The Daily Beast shared its story on X further implying an inappropriate relationship between Trump and Luna, writing, "The new revelations reveal how Trump reportedly offered a female congresswoman his bed, as long as she kept it a secret from his wife." Luna did not take kindly to The Daily Beast's reporting. "I seldom respond to nasty headlines because I don't like giving trash credibility, however, being that there is allegedly a book coming out with me named and attacking @POTUS, his marriage, our first lady, and frankly implying something distasteful about me, I am responding," Luna wrote on X. Karoline Leavitt Says Ap Reporter 'Clearly' Failed To Grasp Trump's Tariff Plan After Heated Exchange "I was very pregnant and at the time experiencing pre-eclampsia symptoms, but was not diagnosed," she explained. "As soon as @realDonaldTrump boarded the plane, being the gentleman and good person that he is, said if I did not feel well, I could use the back room. He did this in a respectful way and in front of my husband, of which we thanked him. He also assured me that they had a medical team on board in case anything happened and they were aware of how pregnant I was." "This was the most compassionate thing that could've been done at the time. I find it disgusting that the author fails to recognize that," Luna continued. "A few weeks later, I was induced because I did have pre-eclampsia . The author of this book never reached out to me for comment. Which means that this book is likely going to be a s--- hit piece. If people in POTUS orbit are talking to this author, they need to be cut off immediately. This is gross." The Daily Beast was later hit by Community Notes, which read "The woman in question was Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who has responded publicly to the allegation. She claims nothing inappropriate occurred, she was not asked for comment, and this situation is being presented out of context." The Daily Beast did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. A spokesperson for Axios told Fox News Digital, "In our report, Axios correctly portrayed and contextualized comments made by President Trump during an interaction that he had with Rep. Luna, an interaction she confirmed in her statement did in fact happen." In a statement to Fox News Digital, White House communications director Steven Cheung denounced Trump books including Isenstadt's as a "desperate attempt to make money off of President Trump's name because journalism is a dying industry with reporters peddling lies and selling their souls in order to make a quick buck," adding, "These works of fiction either belong in the bargain bin of the fantasy section in a discount bookstore or should be repurposed as tissue paper."Original article source: Rep. ‘Just don't tell Melania': Trump once offered an ill Anna Luna his bed as his behind-closed-doors comments are unveiled
President Donald Trump once offered Rep. Anna Luna his bed while she was feeling unwell and joked, 'don't tell Melania,' according to a new book. Comments reportedly made by the president in private have been revealed in a new book titled Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump's Return to Power by Axios reporter Alex Isenstadt. The book features 'never-before-reported' moments in Trump's return to the White House. The book claims the president insulted fellow Republicans and allies, was disparaging about the women who have accused him in court and sarcastically claimed he wouldn't seek revenge if reelected. Steven Cheung, Trump's White House communications director, said the book was 'a work of fiction' when approached by The Independent for comment. While aboard Trump's personal jet in the summer of 2023, a then-pregnant Luna was not feeling well, according to Isenstadt. 'If you need a bed to lay down in, there's one here on the plane. If you feel sick and you need to lay there, you can lay on it,' Trump offered the Florida congresswoman. 'Just don't tell Melania. She doesn't like other women on my bed,' he reportedly joked. Trump, according to the book, also blasted E. Jean Carroll and Stormy Daniels in a comment reportedly made to an aide in April 2024. 'E. Jean Carroll says I f***ed her. Stormy Daniels says I f***ed her. But I never f***ed them. Everyone's f***ing everybody, but I never f***ed any of these people.' Juries in New York found Trump liable for defaming and sexually abusing Carroll after he repeatedly called her a liar for speaking publicly about allegations that he assaulted her in the 1990s. The president also privately made a sarcastic comment to aides in March 2024 in response to former President Joe Biden claiming Trump would seek revenge if reelected. 'Listen, everybody. There will be no retribution, there will be no revenge. Wink, wink,' Trump said, according to the book. Trump insulted fellow Republicans in the run-up to the presidential election, according to Isenstadt. After Sen. Lindsey Graham, a close ally, criticized Trump's decision to oppose a plan to ban abortion after 15 weeks, he reportedly said: 'Go tell Lindsey we're not friends anymore.' Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was on the receiving end of Trump's jibes on two occasions. 'I'm going to squash this guy like a bug,' Trump reportedly said of DeSantis to Vice President J.D. Vance in 2023, who was then Ohio senator, when DeSantis was preparing to run against him in the Republican presidential primary. Trump reportedly made another comment about DeSantis to guests on his private plane while the governor was seeking his endorsement. 'He was like a beggar. I could have said: 'Drop to your f***ing knees, Ron,'' Trump said, according to the book. The president insulted both Sen. Tom Cotton and casino mogul Steve Wynn, who has the incurable eye disease retinitis pigmentosa, after Wynn suggested Trump consider Cotton as his Vice President. 'Wow,' Trump reportedly said. 'Steve is even more blind than I thought he was if he thinks Tom Cotton has charisma.' 'Many of these so-called insider books are a desperate attempt to make money off of President Trump's name because journalism is a dying industry with reporters peddling lies and selling their souls in order to make a quick buck,' Cheung said in a statement to The Independent. Secrets from The Swamp: MAGA Star's Mystery Man Spotted Taking Out Her Trash
It's a Beast of a time in Washington. Donald Trump's D.C. reality show is full of new characters, plot twists, and cliffhangers, and the Daily Beast will navigate you through it. The 47th president won't need to drain The Swamp. It's all leaking here…as this exclusive tidbit from our latest edition shows. Click here to sign up for more delicious news from the ooze.. Trumpworld troublemaker Corey Lewandowski may have been prohibited from officially joining his rumored on-again, off-again side squeeze Kristi Noem at the Department of Homeland Security as the new secretary's chief of staff. The pair have been dogged by persistent rumors of an affair, which they both naturally deny. But President Trump's personal intervention in the matter apparently wasn't enough to keep lovebirds apart. Lewandowski, who holds the temporary designation of 'special government employee' at DHS also appears to be doing other special jobs for Noem—including domestic chores. Lewandowski was spotted in Noem's Washington apartment building in recent days hopping into an elevator, and carrying boxes down to the trash room, a source tells The Swamp. Noem, 53, and Lewandowski, 51, who served as Trump's 2016 presidential campaign manager and advised the former South Dakota governor and 'snow queen' for years as she skyrocketed to MAGA stardom, have denied having a romantic relationship. Both are married—to other people. But Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt writes in his forthcoming book Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump's Return to Power, that the two were still hot and heavy during the 2024 presidential campaign as Trump searched for a VP running mate. 'They were together all the time, and Lewandowski followed the governor around like a puppy dog,' Isenstadt writes, according to an excerpt in the Daily Mail. Noem publicly distanced herself from Lewandowski in 2021 before he cut a deal with Las Vegas prosecutors over misdemeanor battery charges involving alleged unwanted sexual advances toward a GOP donor's wife. (The woman said the Trump operator 'stalked' her throughout a hotel where a charity event took place, commented on her 'nice a–,' and threw a drink at her.) Of course that followed a 2016 incident in which Lewandowski was charged by Palm Beach police with physically assaulting a Breitbart News reporter. (Charges were dropped after Lewandowski said he only grabbed her arm to protect the president.) But that was then, and this is now, and Noemowski could be a thing. At least they're clearly spending a lot of time together, including at her place—whether he's simply taking out her trash, or more. And who are we to judge? The two apparently can't quit each other. Lewandowski—who is widely disliked by Trump's top aides even though we're told the president himself holds a soft spot for him—traveled this month to the Super Bowl in New Orleans, where Noem was busy coordinating security for the president's visit to Super Bowl LIX. Lewandowski proved he's still got entreé with the president by posting a video on X proclaiming: 'In the Motorcade on the way to the Super Bowl with @realDonaldTrump!' Noem still hasn't named her chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security. But we know who's taking out her trash.
