In Praise of Love at Orange Tree Theatre

It's a typically well-crafted work with a core of real warmth, though studded with the cliches of the age. Three of the four characters suck down almost a bottle of spirits each as a pre-dinner sharpener and there is a lot of hectoring talk about politics - Sebastian is a champagne Marxist. The story is loosely based on the marriage of actors Rex Harrison and Kay Kendall, and those who remember Harrison will hear echoes of his peremptory impatience in Sebastian's lines. Director Amelia Sears finds her way unerringly to the heart of the piece through all the layers of tricksy comedy and artifice.

More info British sun-seekers may face holiday havoc this week as Spain braces for a relentless downpour. The Spanish national weather service, Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AE Met), has forecasted a dismal outlook for the Iberian Peninsula with potential rain disruptions continuing until at least Thursday, May 15. Families looking forward to soaking up the Mediterranean sun might be greeted by gloomy skies and rain across the central regions, including the bustling city of Madrid. Additionally, coastal regions favoured by Brits like Costa del Sol and Barcelona may also experience showers. AE Met's Wednesday bulletin surprisingly suggested that "snow" could fall on the Balearic Islands, too. (Image: (Image: Agencia Estatal de Meteorología )) (Image: (Image: Getty )) Their statement revealed: "Unstable conditions will persist across the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands under the influence of a mature low-pressure system located northwest of the peninsula and the deepening of a low-pressure system over North Africa." Consequently, holidaymakers can expect predominantly cloudy or overcast conditions with widespread precipitation. While the southwest might escape slightly, heavy downpours are anticipated across the afternoon hours, particularly in the central plateau, adjoining mountain ranges, the Pyrenees, inland Catalonia, and the southeast, reports the Express. The Balearic Islands, a hotspot for British tourists seeking beach retreats in places like Ibiza and Majorca, have even been warned of potential snowfall amidst the tumultuous weather forecasted for Thursday, May 15th, with AE Met confirming that "unstable conditions will persist". It was reported: "Cloudy or overcast skies will predominate, with almost widespread rainfall, although unlikely in the southwest. "More intense, abundant, and stormy rainfall is expected during the afternoon, when it could be locally heavy in areas of the eastern half and mountains of the Iberian Peninsula. "However, high pressure will remain in the Canary Islands, with cloudy periods and the possibility of some light precipitation in the north of the islands, and partly cloudy skies in the south." In the beloved film My Fair Lady, starring silver screen icons Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, Hepburn captivates audiences as Eliza Doolittle, a humble Cockney flower-seller. Engaging in a wager with Henry Higgins, a professor of phonetics portrayed by Harrison, she undergoes a transformation to speak just as posh as a duchess. "The Rain in Spain" resonates as a memorable tune from the original 1956 musical, featuring prominently in the film as one of the pivotal moments in Doolittle's elocution lessons under the tutelage of professor Higgins.
