Rheb's Candies will open on Mount Airy's Main Street this summer
Baltimore's legendary Rheb's Candies has announced it will open a second location, on Main Street in Mount Airy.
The chocolatier, open since 1917, has been a fixture on Wilkens Avenue in southwest Baltimore for 75 years, according to its website.
Rheb's plans to open in Mount Airy this summer, according to a photo posted on the Town of Mount Airy's Facebook page. The candy store will be located in the former Train Depot, a model-train shop on Main Street that closed at the end of 2024.
Mount Airy Mayor Larry Hushour said that a member of the Rheb's Candies family lives in the town, inspiring the new location.
'Our downtown is really going to get a boost from this new Rheb's location on our Main Street,' Hushour said. 'They're hoping to be open by mid-August around the time of our Celebrate Mount Airy event … If things work out, I suspect Rheb's will be the 'talk of the town' that evening.'
