How to celebrate Pride in Houston this weekend
Houston will come alive this weekend as the city closes out Pride Month with a vibrant parade and lineup of parties.
Why it matters: It's a chance to show up for one another.
Driving the news: Pride Houston 365 will host the 47th annual Pride festival and parade outside City Hall on Saturday.
Tickets for the festival, which runs 11am-6pm, start at $10.
The parade kicks off at 7pm around City Hall, then turns down Milam Street from Walker to Pease streets.
Flashback: Houston's bustling LGBTQ+ communities started celebrating in the 1950s, when the Houston-based Diana Foundation held the first of many award ceremonies for the Bayou City's gay community.
They continue to fight for equality.
Now, Houston is brimming with events and outings to celebrate Pride.
Here's what we're looking forward to the most this weekend:
🏳️⚧️ Celebrate Houston Trans Pride at the Monica Roberts Resource Center with music, dancing and performances on Friday.
Suggested donation of $20. 7pm to midnight.
🍸 Chill at the Lyric Market downtown before the Pride parade, with drink specials and drag performances.
9am-9pm. The drag show is 4-6pm.
🌈 Hang out at the official Pride Houston 365 afterparty at Rich's Houston on Saturday night after the parade.
