4 potential trade-up ideas for the Rams in Round 1 of the draft

4 potential trade-up ideas for the Rams in Round 1 of the draft The Los Angeles Rams never seem satisfied with their positioning on draft night, often looking to move either up or down the board. It wouldn't be the least bit surprising to see them move off the No. 26 pick on Thursday night, either to move up for a player they covet or to trade down the board and acquire more picks. In this exercise, we're exploring scenarios where the Rams trade up. The Athletic reported on Wednesday that the Rams are expected to target a tight end in Round 1, potentially even attempting to trade up for one. Here are four trade-up scenarios for Los Angeles based on the trade value chart. Trade up to No. 13 Rams trade: No. 26 + 2026 2nd-rounder (223 points + TBD) No. 26 + 2026 2nd-rounder (223 points + TBD) Dolphins trade: No. 13 (336 points) If the Rams really want a tight end, they'll probably have to get in front of the Colts at No. 14. By moving up to No. 13, they'll almost certainly have to give up a 2026 second-round pick to make it happen, similar to when they moved up for Braden Fiske in Round 2 last year. A 13-spot jump is significant and the point difference between the Dolphins' and Rams' picks is 113 points, which is about what a mid-second-rounder is worth. Even if the Rams traded their two third-rounders, the total of those two picks is only 79 points, so it wouldn't be enough for the Dolphins. This deal might just land the Rams Colston Loveland, though. Trade up to No. 19 Rams trade: No. 26 + 90 + 190 (274 points) No. 26 + 90 + 190 (274 points) Buccaneers trade: No. 19 (278 points) The Broncos could be looking for a wide receiver at No. 20 and if someone such as Tet McMillan or Matthew Golden somehow falls to No. 19, the Rams might be aggressive and try to trade up. This deal would require the Rams to give up a third- and sixth-rounder in addition to No. 26 overall, but that's a price they'd gladly pay for a player they love. Trade up to No. 21 Rams trade: No. 26 + 101 (257 points) No. 26 + 101 (257 points) Steelers trade: No. 21 (261 points) If there isn't a quarterback on the board that the Steelers like, they could look to move down. The Rams could jump in and offer a third-rounder to make the swap happen, going up five spots to get someone they're targeting. The Packers (23) and Texans (25) could be looking for a wide receiver so the Rams might feel they need to get in front of them to secure the wideout they want. Trade up to No. 24 Rams trade: No. 26 + 127 (243 points) No. 26 + 127 (243 points) Vikings trade: No. 24 + 187 (243 points) The idea here is that the Vikings have just four total picks, so they could really be looking to move down. This trade doesn't net them an extra selection, but it does move them up 60 spots on Day 3 for simply moving down two spots in Round 1. Again, with the Texans looking at wide receivers, the Rams could jump them to get their guy. Trade value chart (Rich Hill Model) Follow Rams Wire on X,Facebook and now Threads for more coverage!

NFL trade value chart: Here's how much every draft pick is worth in 2025

Trades are a major part of the NFL draft each year. Though there's been minimal movement so far, deals will inevitably be struck between Thursday and Friday when teams go on the clock. One way to gauge how much to give up in a trade up the board or how much to ask for in a move back is the trade value chart. Below is a look at the Rich Hill Model, which has become the more popular model in recent drafts. Each pick is assigned a point value ranging from 1 to 1,000, with the earlier picks obviously being more valuable. For instance, the 26th pick, which the Los Angeles Rams hold, is worth 223 points. Here's a look at the complete 2025 draft order, with values for all 257 picks. As for the Rams' eight picks, here are the values of each one.
