More than 80 veterans take honor flight to D.C.
WASHINGTON, (WEHT) — More than 80 Tri-State veterans are in our nation's capital visiting the monuments built in their honor.
The honor flight of Southern Indiana carries 86 veterans and each of their chaperones to Washington DC for the trip of a lifetime.
Some veterans making the trip served in Vietnam, Korea and even World War II.
Eyewitness News Anchor Hannah Haerle is on the trip capturing their stories. One veteran she spoke to says he was lucky enough to have both of his sons come on the trip.
'I have my son here. I have two sons and had to choose one but actually both are here because my youngest is a chaperone for my neighbor, so we all get to be here together,' says Army Veteran Richard Baehl.
The Honor Flight will return back to Evansville tonight and will be greeted with a welcome home parade. The parade is at Evansville regional airport and is set to begin just after 8 p.m.
