Five years after the pandemic, UC still helping those with "long COVID"
This month marked five years since the world shut down because of COVID-19. Few of us can forget that period of time when we socially distanced, stayed home, sought vaccines and wore masks for months on end. While COVID-19 is no longer a pandemic, it lives on for some 20 million Americans in the form of "long COVID.' University of Cincinnati Medical Center has a long COVID clinic. WCPO spoke with one of the doctors at that clinic. He says long COVID usually has clusters of lingering symptoms from exhaustion to dizzines, and there is no one treatment for it. "As of this moment there are not specific therapies that one could turn to,' Dr. Richard Becker said. 'What we try our best to do is treat things we know how to treat - high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea.' Dr. Becker says the best medicine is to stay healthy including getting a COVID-19 vaccine.
