Topeka Veteran receives life changing renovation
TOPEKA (KSNT) – Richey Miles served for 16 years in the Army as a Military Police Officer.
In his 5th, and final deployment, he was medevacked out after suffering cartilage damage to his knee.
Miles has been in need of an accessible shower, that's where West Shore Homes stepped in.
Through their 'West Shore for Warriors' initiative, team members worked throughout the day Thursday to install a new safety enhanced shower.
The program looks to bring autonomy and dignity to those that have served throughout the nation.
'This took a big burden right off of my family,' Miles said. 'My mom heard about it, she started crying. She was so excited. Now my family knows that I'm going to be safe going into the shower and they don't have to worry about that, so I'm happy.'
Miles is the first 'West Shore for Warriors' recipient for 2025.
