AGT Twist: Terry Crews Steals One of Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzers in Week 4 (‘You Snooze You Lose!')

America's Got Talent's latest Golden Buzzer win comes with an important lesson: 'Age ain't nothing but a number!' Tuesday's episode, the fourth week of Season 20 auditions, introduced viewers to the Funkateer Dancers, a group of four friends who first came together to perform in their high school talent show in 1980. They stuck together for a few years, performing at theaters and outdoor concerts whenever possible, but they began to put their dancing dreams aside as they got older and became fathers. (OK, that last one is considerably less normal, but you get the idea.) The last time they performed together on stage was at one of their weddings in 1989. That is, until now. Rocking some of the sparkliest shoes we've ever seen, the Funkateers reunited on the AGT stage on Tuesday for a hypnotic routine set to Rick James' 'Give It To Me, Baby.' The moves were right, the steps were tight and the vibes were immaculate. 'I love it when we start the day with an act that is perfect,' Sofia Vergara said with an enormous smile on her face. 'You guys are what AGT is all about. You're great, you have a beautiful story and you actually did what you were supposed to do. I loved it!' Howie Mandel echoed those sentiments, adding: 'As good as they were, and they probably were this good in high school, it's better that you did it now at this age. It makes it even better!' Simon Cowell attempted to offer his two cents on the group's audition, but host Terry Crews snuck up behind him and snatched the Golden Buzzer for himself, showering the Funkateers in confetti and sending them through to the live shows. 'I was going to do it!' Simon insisted, but Mel B had little sympathy, telling him, 'You snooze, you lose.' 'Sometimes people say, 'What's the perfect audition?' It's something surprising, and it just makes you feel amazing,' Simon said, turning his attention to Terry. 'I'm not making this up, I was literally about to do that — and then out of the corner of my eye, I saw you,' he said. 'I hated you and loved you at the same.' That makes the Funkateer Dancers the fifth act to receive a Golden Buzzer in Season 20, following singer-songwriter Jourdan Blue, electric dance group Light Wire, juggling duo Messoudi Brothers and singer Charity Lockhart.
