Waco business leader running for County Judge
WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – A McLennan County business leader has announced his candidacy for County Judge.
Rick Tullis announced his candidacy on Monday. He has over 30 years in business and enters the race with a record of leadership and a clear vision for the county's future.
Tullis was born in Plainview, Texas and moved to McLennan County to attend Baylor University. He graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and settled in the Waco area with his wife Elizabeth. Rick went on to become a founding partner and President of Capstone Mechanical, retiring in 2023 after a career in engineering, contracting, and manufacturing with the HVAC industry.
Tullis has been a Midway Independent School District Trustee since 2013. He is on the Executive Board of Advisors with the Greater Waco Advanced Manufacturing Academy. He is the Chairman of the Public Policy Committee of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce. He is the WorkSITE Workforce Training Initiative Co-Chair of the Advisory Committee. He is also the vice president of the Central Bosque Water Supply Corporation.
His past community involvement also includes serving as Chairman of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, President of the Waco Business League, Chairman of the Baylor/Waco Foundation, Founder and Chairman of the Greater Waco Sports Commission, and as a member of the Baylor School of Engineering Advisory Board.
Rick Tullis and his wife Elizabeth reside in Woodway and have a family farm outside in McGregor. They are proud parents to four sons – Ross, Kyle, Jack, and Cade.
