Camper fire in South Peoria causes $2,500 in damages
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A camper caught on fire in South Peoria, causing $2,500 in damages Sunday afternoon.
Peoria firefighters were called at 1:22 p.m. Sunday to the 1100 block of South Blaine Street near the intersection of West Garden Street to a report of a working structure fire, said Battalion Chief Rick Waldron.
When firefighters arrived, they found a camper fully engulfed in flames and had started to spread to two homes nearby.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire before it spread inside either of the two homes, but both received moderate damages to the outside of the homes, he said.
After the fire was put out, firefighters searched both homes but found no one inside, Waldron said.
While Molly, the department's arson dog, was called to the scene, the cause of the fire was undetermined, he said.
The camper was deemed a total loss, and combined with the damages to the two homes totaled approximately $2,500, he said.
