"Okay not being on biggest set in world..." Ridhi Dogra opens up about mental health, says she chooses work that makes her 'feel valued'

Actor Ridhi Dogra, who made her Bollywood debut with 'Lakadbaggha' in 2023 and was later seen in big films including Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, recently opened up about how she takes care of her mental health while working in the entertainment industry. Actor Ridhi Dogra, who made her Bollywood debut with 'Lakadbaggha' in 2023 and was later seen in big films including Shah Rukh Khan 's Jawan, recently opened up about how she takes care of her mental health while working in the entertainment industry. Ridhi has been part of the industry for many years now, starting with her Television debut in Jhoome Jiya Re. But even with all the success, the journey hasn't been easy. There was a time early on in her career when she felt like she wasn't "feeling happy." However, she made some clear decisions that continue to help her stay grounded and happy to this day. When asked if she ever felt the need to pause and take a break from the pressure, Dogra told ANI, "I love what I do, so I think when you love what you do, you don't really need to take a break from it. But yeah, very early on, I decided I only want to do work that I love, and I only want to go on sets where I am valued. So, I created that environment for myself, where I'm okay not being on the biggest set in the world. I want to be on a set where people want me there--that's what's important in my life. " "In my circumstances... I think only once in my life--I'm not going to talk about the project--but only once, early in my career, I felt like what you're saying, that I wasn't feeling happy, or whatever, whatever. And I quickly changed that. I said, 'You know what? I'm not going to do anything that doesn't feel right to me. I'll only work with people who believe in what I'm doing, who are excited about what I'm doing, or what we're making, and that's it. ' That really has helped me till now..." The Asur actress went on to speak about the emotional demands of being an actor and why it's important to take breaks--not just to rest, but to emotionally recharge. "You do need a break sometimes. As actors, we need a lot of breaks, not because our work is hectic, but because we're always wearing the sensitivity cap. You can never drop it. We are using our emotions to portray different feelings, and that's a big gamble we play. We are constantly trying to show various emotions, and that means we are carrying those emotions at all times. For somebody like that, whether it's a musician who sings and connects to God, we do need downtime. So, after every project of mine, I do take a holistic wellness break," Ridhi shared. The interaction took place at the Delhi launch of Lakadbaggha: The Prologue, a graphic novel written by Anshuman Jha and illustrated by American comic book artist Brittain Peck. The novel serves as a prequel to the 2023 action film Lakadbaggha and was launched by the film's team, including Ridhi and Anshuman. I'm a citizen too: Ridhi Dogra after being bullied for opposing Abir Gulaal release

Actor Ridhi Dogra was among the Bollywood artistes who took a stand in opposing Pakistani content and actors after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. She has stated that a lot of people bullied her for standing up for India. Ridhi, who was also a part of the Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor-starrer romantic-drama 'Abir Gulaal,' voiced against the release of her own film amid India-Pakistan in an interview with Hindustan Times, shared that she was criticised for supporting her country. "In the case of the film, I spoke for our country, and suddenly I was being bullied by saying 'arre but she worked with (Fawad Khan)'. But I was firm. Don't bully me. I am as much a citizen of this country as you. When I did that work, I was very mindful of the laws of our country. I didn't do anything illegal. And today, when we are in this situation, I feel I want to stand by my country, my armed forces. And not because I am anything important, but just because you all are too," she said. Ridhi Dogra has stated that she was bullied for opposing Abir Gulaal release. advertisementApart from Ridhi, actor Harshvardhan Rane had said that he would not be a part of 'Sanam Teri Kasam 2' if his Pakistani co-actor Mawra Hocane was part of the film. The latter reacted to his statement, calling it a "PR strategy." Harshvardhan responded to her remarks and called it a "personal attack." The production house later admitted that Mawra won't be included in the sequel to 'Sanam Teri Kasam.' However, the Pakistani actor's character died in the first part Bollywood celebrities have been facing a backlash for not slamming Pakistan after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, including a Nepali resident. While most Bollywood actors condemned the incident, they did not mention Pakistan in their social media Preity Zinta, whose father was in the Indian Army, was amongst the few celebrities who expressed her strong feelings against the heinous terror Watch

Ridhi Dogra Says She Was 'Bullied' For Opposing Abir Gulaal Release After Pahalgam Attack

Last Updated: Ridhi Dogra has revealed she was targeted online for supporting the postponement of Abir Gulaal following the Pahalgam terror attack. The past few weeks have been nothing short of a national crisis, as India and Pakistan stood on the edge of armed conflict following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 innocent lives. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor—an extensive and calculated strike targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. What followed was a tense, volatile series of events, including retaliatory artillery shelling and drone attacks on Indian cities near the border. Jammu, one of the most heavily targeted regions, is not just a conflict zone—it's also home to actor Ridhi Dogra. In an emotional conversation with Hindustan Times, Ridhi opened up about the anxiety of watching the crisis unfold from afar, knowing her hometown was in the crosshairs. 'It was very scary," she admitted. 'We were constantly on call with our family in Jammu and our relatives in Amritsar. There was a complete blackout. From their rooftops, they could see strange lights and flying objects in the sky. And all we could do was sit and wait." She continued, 'It's a strange feeling of helplessness. I was praying, crying, just wishing for the safety of everyone there. At the same time, I felt deeply grateful for the armed forces. What they're doing at the border—protecting us while we sleep—is something you can never repay. You wouldn't wish such fear on anyone." Ridhi, who has roots in a region long familiar with unrest, says this time felt different—not because of the violence, but because of the unified response. 'This isn't the first time Jammu and Kashmir has seen strife. We've lived through bomb blasts, especially near temples in our neighborhoods. But something about this moment felt bigger. This time, the entire country rose up in solidarity. It wasn't just our battle—it felt like India stood with us." The situation also impacted Ridhi's professional life. She was gearing up for the release of Abir Gulaal, a film co-starring Vaani Kapoor and Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, making his Bollywood return after nearly a decade. But in the wake of Operation Sindoor and nationwide outrage, the film's release was shelved indefinitely. Despite voicing support for the postponement—aligning herself with public sentiment and national interest—Ridhi found herself under fire online. 'I was trolled so badly," she shared. 'People said, 'Oh, but she worked with a Pakistani actor,' as if that alone defines me. But when I did that work, I followed every law. I respected every boundary. And now, in this moment of national pain, I choose to stand with my country. Not because I'm famous or special, but because I'm Indian. Just like them." First Published:
