Three Predictions: SMU, Arch Manning, Mississippi State

Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman has three predictions on SMU getting a top offensive target, Arch Manning's 2026 plans and an SEC program landing a four-star quarterback. The electric back out of Lancaster (Texas) High continues to lean toward the Mustangs, who have gotten the in-state target on campus far and away more than any other contender left in the mix. I logged a Rivals FutureCast with sky-high confidence in this one. One of the biggest hold-ups in examining a 2026 mock is whether the draft-eligible juniors will or won't declare. For example, Will Campbell elected to return for his senior season and improved his stock as a result. Arch Manning is a popular name tossed around at or near the top of 2026 mock drafts, but there is a strong sense that the Longhorns' starting QB this season remains in Austin beyond his junior season. I know that nothing is locked in this early in the process, but Manning loves Texas and is bracing for his first year as the Longhorns' starter. Texas is a strong championship contender – again – and whether the Longhorns win or come close under Manning, there is already more reason to believe No. 16 will lean toward remaining in school. The four-star QB from Georgia has made multiple visits out to both Bloomington and Starkville since the end of his junior season, including three visits back to Indiana and Mississippi State with two stops at Colorado along the way. The Hoosiers have been pressing for an early commitment, but multiple multi-day stops back at Mississippi State have moved the needle tremendously for this family. McWhorter feels like a culture fit in Starkville – and our expectation is that he pledges to State during his Thursday announcement. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MISSISSIPPI STATE FANS AT

Spiegelman's Predictions: Notre Dame, Tennessee will land four-stars

Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman has three predictions on Notre Dame beating out Michigan for a top running back target, USC bolstering its class with a receiver commitment and Tennessee finding more success recruiting North Carolina. WHICH METRO AREA PRODUCES THE BEST HS FOOTBALL TALENT? YOU DECIDE MORE PREDICTIONS: Tyler Warren, Ohio State, Illinois CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker NOTRE DAME WILL BEAT MICHIGAN FOR TOUTED RUNNING BACK Javian Osborne is down to Notre Dame and Michigan and a decision is expected sometime later this spring or immediately after his two mid-summer official visits to both finalists. After touring through both campuses, my prediction is sitting on the Irish, who have made a colossal move in Osborne's recruitment and have emerged as the team best positioned to land the blue-chipper. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NOTRE DAME FANS AT TENNESSEE WILL LAND FOUR-STAR OT LEO DELANEY Nick Lucero/ Leo Delaney is coming off a big spring that included return visits to leading contenders such as Clemson, South Carolina, Michigan and Tennessee. The four-star OT was a teammate of five-star Tennessee signee David Sanders Jr. last year and there's a sense that these two could be playing together again down the line. Multiple sources have pointed to the Vols as the program to beat in Delaney's recruitment, and I've logged a Rivals FutureCast in favor of Tennessee, which has been incredibly successful recruiting North Carolina blue-chip talent under Josh Heupel. Iowa football receives Rivals FutureCast for 2026 ATH

Iowa football receives Rivals FutureCast for 2026 ATH As Iowa football navigates its offseason and readies for spring practices, the Hawkeye coaching staff is busy working the recruiting trail to chart out the program's future. One name Iowa fans might want to familiarize themselves with is class of 2026 athlete Julian Manson. From right in its own backyard out of Iowa City West, Manson picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes last summer in June of 2024. Now, it appears as though Manson might be the next time among Iowa's current set of 2026 commits. Hawkeye Beacon's Eliot Clough recently put in a Rivals FutureCast for the Hawkeyes to land a commitment from Manson on Jan. 28. In addition to Iowa, Manson currently holds offers from Kansas State, Minnesota, Kent State, Miami (Ohio) and North Dakota State per 247Sports. Manson is a 6-foot-4, 205 pound athlete that projects as a linebacker for the Hawkeyes. The Iowa City West product led the Trojans with 86.5 tackles this past season. He also caught 52 passes for 867 yards and 13 scores. On3 and ESPN each rank Manson as a four-star recruit. On3 ranks Manson as the nation's No. 262 player overall in the 2026 class, as its No. 18 linebacker and as the No. 4 player from Iowa. Meanwhile, ESPN ranks Manson as its 264th-ranked player nationally, as its No. 18 outside linebacker and as the No. 3 player from Iowa. Manson is a three-star recruit according to both 247Sports and Rivals. 247Sports ranks Manson as the nation's No. 24 athlete and as the fourth-ranked player from Iowa, while Rivals regards Manson as the No. 32 athlete and No. 5 player from Iowa. Here's a look at Manson's junior season highlights with Iowa City West. Contact/Follow us @HawkeyesWire on X and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Iowa news, notes and opinions.
