Best 2025 April Fools jokes in our area
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Law enforcement and businesses shared their best jokes, and pranks, Tuesday for April Fools. Shocking developments from the Statesboro Police Department: 'Chief Broadhead hosted a meeting yesterday morning to announce our latest project. Going forward, we will be joining in on the latest trend of using electricity from eels as our charging source for all SPD issued tasers. This serves as an organic, renewable power source that cuts down on costs, is environmentally friendly, and encourages the breeding of electric eels. All eels will be cared for in-house at the station and officers are already scheduled for training in their handling and electric current production. We look forward to taking this exciting new step with you and will keep you posted as we progress!' Breaking praline developments from River Street Sweets! BREAKING NEWS 'We're live on River Street with Tim Strickland, co-owner of Savannah's beloved River Street Sweets, where some seriously sweet news is unfolding…' [Cue WSAV Ben Senger Anchor] 'Tim, is it true? Locals are buzzing—are y'all really launching an Instant Praline Kit?' [Tim nods, holding up a shiny new box] 'That's right, Ben. Just add water, give it a stir, and boom—perfect pralines in 60 seconds. No candy thermometer, no butter splatters. It's praline magic.' Too good to be true? You bet it is. APRIL FOOLS! Nice try—but pralines take time, love, and a whole lot of butter to get just right. Leave it to the pros! Flocking to Bulloch County Sheriff's Department's new unit! ' Introducing our new AVN unit! Over the years, the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office has had great success with our K-9 unit in keeping the public safe. In an effort to continue our public safety measures through new technologies, we would like to introduce our new AVN unit! This state-of-the-art technology uses trained Canadian Geese to aid in narcotic detection, suspect tracking, and even threat neutralization. Several other states have also implemented this advantageous technology, including New York, Nebraska, and Illinois! Beginning this month, the AVN and K-9 units will work together to make Bulloch County a safer place! Happy April Fools! ' Camera shy gators at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge 'In response to growing concerns over the safety and well-being of Okefenokee's alligator population, starting today, a PERMIT will be required for anyone wishing to take photos of alligators in the refuge. Here's what you'll need: Official Alligator Photography Permit (available at the Visitor Center) Photography lessons from a licensed wildlife photographer Special 'gator-friendly' lenses (don't worry, we've got you covered!) Officials have noted that the alligators have become increasingly camera-shy, and it's critical that they're not overwhelmed by flash photography or sudden attention. Okay, we're just kidding, happy April Fools! Get outside and enjoy your national wildlife refuge!' Statesboro Police Department's new sirens 'ATTENTION, CITIZENS! The police department has decided that all sirens have been replaced with officers making the noises themselves. If you hear a cop going 'WEE-OOH WEE-OOH' behind you, please pull over accordingly ' Just dance! With the Pooler Police Department? 'Sometimes you just have to dance Don't miss out on this special offer and opportunity today. I don't know about you, but these officers have some pretty impressive moves if you do attempt this, please record for our enjoyment. *April Fools…yadda yadda legal stuff*' Tybee Post Theater's bird closure ' Important Public Notice The Tybee Post Theater is temporarily closed until further notice. During a routine maintenance inspection, a rare and protected avian species, identified as a nesting 'Maritime Crested Tern', was discovered within the theater's catwalk. In accordance with guidelines from the Coastal Georgia Avian Preservation Society and the Tybee Island Marine Science Center, the theater must remain closed to allow for the undisturbed nesting and potential hatching of this endangered species. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and… APRIL FOOLS!!!' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
