Riverbed Launches Smart OTel for Better Insights and Decision-Making
Riverbed announced the general availability of Riverbed Smart OTel (OpenTelemetry), a game-changing approach to OpenTelemetry, delivering the right data at the right time for better insights and decision-making. Available as part of the Riverbed Platform, Smart OTel supports Riverbed Aternity and Network Observability solutions, as well as third-party applications. Today, IT teams are drowning in vendor-specific dashboards, fragmented data, and endless alerts. Despite more observability and visibility, critical insights remain buried. To simplify troubleshooting, IT teams using OTel often build custom dashboards to unify data sources. However, rather than consuming and parsing every metric, what IT really needs is for business-critical issues to surface precise data instantly for faster action. Unlike traditional OpenTelemetry solutions, Smart OTel leverages platform-level data collection for smarter analytics, automation and troubleshooting. With Smart OTel, once an event or alert is triggered, the patented Riverbed Data Store surfaces only pertinent data required for that specific event or business use case, and exports that data to any standard OTel collector. Customers can also leverage Riverbed AI and AI automations to further process the data prior to exporting, adding even more precision filtering and decision capability. Additionally, Smart OTel, allows IT to ingest, process, and export any third-party data via OTel, unlocking new levels of flexibility and control in IT operations. 'Customers are tired of getting massive data streams of raw telemetry, where it's incumbent upon them to try to sort through the clutter and figure out what happened,' said Richard Tworek, CTO, Riverbed Technology. 'Riverbed has taken a different and game-changing approach to OpenTelemetry with our Smart OTel solution. Rather than collecting an overwhelming amount of raw data, Smart OTel works at the Platform level, leveraging the Riverbed Data Store, AI, and automation to give IT teams precisely the right data at the right time using the OTel open standard, delivered to the tool of their choice. This approach enables organizations to fix business-critical issues fast.' 0 0
