Rixos Group Adds Baghdad to Its List of Global Tourist Cities
Baghdad – INA The global Rixos Group announced on Saturday that it has added Baghdad to its list of global tourism destinations. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the group said it has taken a strategic step that reflects its interest in the Iraqi market and aims to strengthen Baghdad's presence on the global tourism map. According to the statement, Rixos founder and chairman Fettah Tamince visited Baghdad to review progress on the 'Rixos Baghdad' complex, which includes a hotel and residential apartments. The project is one of the key developments by Estithmar Holding – Iraq and is located in the heart of the Green Zone. It will be the first five-star hotel in the capital built to Rixos international standards. The group noted that the visit coincides with accelerating plans from both public and private sectors to develop Baghdad and invest in infrastructure across Iraq. The project is also a core part of Rixos' strategy to expand into new and promising markets. Rixos stated that the Baghdad project is a valuable addition to its global portfolio, alongside other major destinations such as Istanbul, Antalya, Dubai, Jeddah, Montenegro, and Sharm El-Sheikh. Estithmar Holding is overseeing the project's implementation, which is expected to generate direct economic benefits by supporting construction, supply, and service sectors, as well as creating job opportunities for Iraqi professionals during both the construction and operational phases. In the long term, the project will contribute to tourism infrastructure and support the national economy. The upcoming Rixos Baghdad is expected to combine Iraqi authenticity with international hospitality, following the high standards of the Rixos brand. It aims to provide high-quality experiences for both residents of Baghdad and visitors from around the world, and could become a turning point in Iraq's tourism and hospitality landscape. The project will include 322 hotel rooms, 159 luxury apartments, 9 villas, 6 international restaurants, a global-standard wellness club, and facilities for paddle and tennis. Rixos described the project as a unique addition to Baghdad's hospitality scene and a step toward enhancing the city's lifestyle offerings. On April 17, 2025, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received Rixos Chairman Fettah Tamince and stated that the ongoing development and reconstruction efforts in Iraq have created many investment opportunities.
