LPGA star Charley Hull's biggest goal in 2025 is to shave six minutes off her 5K time
Charley Hull was asked ahead of the PIF Saudi Ladies International about her No. 1 goal for the season. Her answer didn't actually have anything to do with golf.
"I want to try and get my 5K run time down to 20 minutes by the end of the year," said Hull. "It's around 26 minutes at the moment."
The world No. 11, who currently sits in a share of 20th at Riyadh Golf Club, went on to explain that she has zero interest in training for golf.
"I don't want to just be a golfer," said Hull. "I want to be an athlete. I train because it's good for my mental health, and it's good for me. I just enjoy it as a hobby."
Hull, who won in Riyadh last fall at the Aramco Team Series finals, sits at 8 under for this week's event after two rounds, five strokes behind leader Jeeno Thitikul. The Thai star, who leads by three, shot 67-64 to open her 2025 season.
This year's event featured a new team format. The teams, which were drafted ahead of the event, competed over the first two days for a $500,000 prize. A cut was then made to the top 60 and ties to compete for the remaining $4.5 million purse. Somi Lee's team won the team competition.
Players who missed the cut include No. 3-ranked Ruoning Yin, Moriya Jutanugarn and Danielle Kang.
