Bhongir plot owners say gangster Nayeem's henchmen still control their land
Members of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Nagar Colony Mutual Aided Co-operative Society have alleged that over 500 residential plots in Bhongir, which they purchased with proper legal papers over three decades ago, have been 'usurped'. According to them, third parties took control of the land using forged documents. They further alleged that the trail of the land grab leads back to associates of slain gangster Nayeemuddin. At a press meet held at Neredmet on Friday, the society's representatives claimed that land under Survey Nos. 722 to 724 and 726 to 733 of Bhongir, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, was fraudulently transferred despite a prohibition order meant to protect their interests. 'We have been fighting this encroachment since 2008. It's a clear case of land grabbing by criminal elements using fake documents, and yet, the authorities seem to be siding with the encroachers,' said a spokesperson. The society members legally bought and registered plots in Bhongir back in 1993 and 1994, and the land records were updated at the Bhongir Tahsildar's office. However, the society claimed that in 2006, some people used forged papers to get control of the land. These people reportedly paid ₹4.69 crore in cash to others who had no legal right to the property. 'The cash was given to the sons of Kancham Shankaraiah and the wife of Datrik Venkataiah — none of whom had ownership over the land we had already bought,' said a representative of the society. They alleged that fake sale deeds were created and registered using document numbers 11121 to 11128 and others in 2006 and 2007. The society says these fraudulent deals were backed by bogus certificates from the revenue office. Official records now confirm the documents were fake. Those behind this have links with Nayeemuddin, they added. Despite these findings, the society the Revenue Department has not marked the land boundaries, they said. They have even lifted the prohibition orders on land transactions, while ignoring the orders from the Revenue Court under the RoR Act, the members said. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been criticised. 'We haven't even been listed as victims, no charge-sheet has been filed, and the ₹4.69 crore cash transaction from 2006 hasn't been investigated,' the society pointed out. They added that to make things worse, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has not cancelled layout approvals for these disputed plots. 'How can approvals still stand on land that's under dispute with proof of forgery?' one member asked. In their appeal to the State Government, the society demanded restoration of their names in revenue records, cancellation of illegal sale deeds and passbooks, a fresh ban on land sales, proper boundary marking, and final resolution of the issue.

Bhu Bharati will strengthen revenue system: Ponnam
Karimnagar: The Bhu Bharati Act will solve all issues pertaining to the land disputes and farmers will not have to go around of Revenu offices to rectify land records, said BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar here on Tuesday. The Minister speaking the Bhu Bharati awareness seminars organised at Saidapur and Chigurumamidi in the district on Tuesday. He said Bhu Bharati Act will implement the new RoR Act in a strict and transparent manner and the rural revenue system will be strengthened. He added that the farmers' grievances and anger due to the land disputes brought about by the Dharani have gone as far as attacking the tahsildars. He said that due to the Dharani system, the farmer was not in a position to sell his land himself. The previous government portrayed the officials as thieves and transferred hundreds of acres of land in their names overnight. Prabhakar said that the names of those who sold their lands less than 30 years ago and left have come under the Dharani, and due to this, the real farmers are facing difficulties. Bhu Bharati has brought the new Revenue Act into effect with the intention of solving all these problems. The problems will be solved through this Act from June 2. He said that if anyone is involved in land grabbing, the public should bring it to their attention and those lands will be used again for public needs. District Collector Pamela Satpathy said that the Bhu Bharati Act has decentralised powers and the responsibility and accountability of officials have increased. The system of village administration powers will be strengthened. In the last six months, the government has resolved more than 9,000 land issue applications in the district by giving powers to the tahsildars and RDOs. Additional Collector Praful Desai, RTOs Maheshwar and Ramesh Babu, Cooperative Society Chairman Kotha Tirupati Reddy, AMC Chairman Sudhakar, DCO Ramanujacharya, DAO Bhagyalakshmi, Tahsildars Ramesh and Manjula and MPDO Yadagiri participated in the programme.
