Roanoke County Fire & Rescue tackles house fire, family displaced
ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire that displaced a family of four near Cave Spring on March 31. Fire officials said crews responded to the 3900 block of Garst Mill Road around 9:52 a.m. on Monday after reports of a house fire. At the scene, Units from Station 3 found a single-story wood-frame home with smoke showing from the front. Red Cross hosts 'Sound the Alarm' in Pulaski Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control in about 15 minutes. It is currently believed the fire started in the kitchen. All occupants inside the home made it out safely, and no injuries have currently been reported. A family of three adults and one child has been displaced and will be staying with family. Roanoke County issues temporary burn ban ahead of expected strong winds
ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke County has announced a burn ban ahead of strong winds that are expected in the area in the coming days. The Roanoke County Fire Marshal's Office said the burn ban will be in effect from March 5 through March 7. All opening burning, including recreational fires are prohibited during the ban until 4 p.m. on Friday March 7. RELATED STORY | Virginia Burn restrictions take effect until April, learn more Additionally, all burn permit holders have been contacted about the ban. 'Please be reminded that when the ban is lifted on Friday at 4 p.m. that the Statewide burn laws are still in effect until April 30 which limit burning to between the hours of 4 p.m. and midnight. Also, any fire larger than a recreational fire in Roanoke County larger than 2 feet by the 3 feet must have a burn permit.'
