It comes as The Times, using data from Rightmove, published its annual list of the UK's most expensive streets in 2025. As you might expect, London dominates rankings, with England's capital taking all but two of the top 20 spots and only one address outside of the south east featuring. But The Times also shared a list of the most expensive streets in different regions around Britain, with the average price ranging from £820,000 to nearly £12 million. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Introducing the list, The Times says: To be considered for inclusion as the most expensive in any region, a street must have at least five properties advertised for sale - a measure designed to exclude those neighbourhoods that are inactive in the property market or may not have many residential properties. Winnington Road in Hampstead, north London, is named as the most expensive street in Britain, according to The Times and Rightmove, with an average asking price of £11,906,522, followed by Lowndes Square and Eaton Terrace, both in Westminster. The most expensive street in Scotland, meanwhile, is Edinburgh's Manor Place, where the average home will cost a cool £820,385. The Times said: 'Manor Place is a classical terrace in the heart of the West End of the city, containing several townhouses in the shadow of St Mary's Cathedral. It was designed in 1814 and then built between 1824-1825 by Robert Brown on land owned by Sir Patrick Walker. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'The West End is one of Edinburgh's most sought-after residential areas. It is characterised by its beautiful Georgian and Victorian terraces, wide streets and well-kept communal gardens. Excellent shopping is located in the city centre, just a five-minute walk away. 'There are also smaller independent shops, boutiques, cafés, and delis on William Street, a short stroll away.' David Law, head of Strutt & Parker in Edinburgh, said: 'Manor Place is known for its prime location close to the busy city centre. Dotted with pretty Georgian townhouses, it stands out from its neighbouring streets where many buildings remain in commercial use. Over the years, we've seen buildings here be converted back into full residential properties. Many apartments have attractive views onto the cathedral. 'The buyers we see here can be a real mix. Wealthy families are drawn to the grander townhouses for their space and character, while young professionals snap up the apartments - often with the help of the bank of Mum and Dad. There's also a strong interest from international buyers, particularly those who want a city base near to the city's consulates. San Bernardino police shooting: Family reaches $4.9 million settlement over death of Robert Brown

The Brief The family of Robert Brown has reached a $4.9 million settlement with the City of San Bernardino over a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in 2023. The San Bernardino Police Department said Brown was armed and failed to follow commands, leading the officer to fire shots at him during a foot chase. The family's attorney said no gun was ever found at the crime scene. LOS ANGELES - A multi-million dollar settlement has been reached between the City of San Bernardino and the family of Robert Brown, who was fatally shot by an officer in 2023. The backstory The deadly incident happened on December 27, 2023, when Brown was pulled over for a traffic violation by a motorcycle cop in the area of 7th Street and Sierra Way. Body-worn camera shows Brown fleeing from the car as the officer approached. The officer gave chase and followed Brown on foot as he ran through backyards. Brown then jumped a fence and the officer shot at him multiple times through the wired fence, which had wood panels on the other side, seemingly obstructing the officer's sight. PREVIOUS COVERAGE:Robert Brown: Family claims San Bernardino police planted gun before deadly shooting Following the shooting, the police department in a statement said Brown ignored the officer's commands to drop the weapon and get down onto the ground. The department also said the weapon, a 9mm handgun, was reported stolen from out-of-state. However, the family and their attorney, Brad Gage, say no gun was ever found. The other side "I did not see a gun being thrown. They did not find a gun. If there was a gun, they would have found it in the first 10 or 20 minutes. Hours they spent and never found a gun," Gage said. In May 2024, Gage said he believed the police department planted a gun at the crime scene. The officer involved in the shooting is still on the force; now Brown's sister is looking to have him prosecuted. "Robert's name will never be forgotten, and neither will the fact that his life was stolen by an officer who is sworn to protect and serve. We are not done, this is not over. We demand prosecution, we demand change, we demand justice for my brother. Real justice," Victoria Brown said. The family reached a settlement for nearly $4.9 million. What's next The city and the Department of Justice have yet to release their findings in the investigation.

Northampton Saints call for sea of support at European final

Saints call for sea of support at European final 12 minutes ago Share Save Kris Holland BBC News, Northamptonshire Share Save Getty Images Saints will play in the European Champions Cup final for the first time since 2011, following Saturday's win over Leinster Northampton Saints have called on their supporters to bring "a sea of black, gold and green" to their European Champions Cup final, after tickets went on general sale. Saints stunned Irish side Leinster - who were heavy favourites to progress - to win a thrilling semi-final in Dublin on Saturday, and set-up a final against French club Bordeaux Begles in Cardiff later this month. It will be only the third appearance for Saints in the showpiece fixture following matches in 2000, when Northampton won the competition, and 2011 when they were runners-up. Saints fan Colin Wells, who attended the semi-final, said it was "right up there" as one of his favourite days supporting the club. Mr Wells said: "Every one of those guys on that pitch... they gave their heart, they gave their bodies and they gave their souls. "They brought their game and absolutely smashed it. It [the game] had everything." Four-times Champions Cup winners Leinster, who boast a squad full of Irish internationals, had beaten Saints in last year's semi-final and had reached the final in each of the last three seasons before Saturday's upset. "I knew we were capable of beating Leinster," said Mr Wells. "When we bring our A-game and give 100%, there's no stopping us." Colin Wells Saints fan Colin Wells said Saturday's thrilling semi-final against Leinster "had everything" Fellow fan Robert Brown, who also attended the match in Dublin, said: "Hand on heart, I didn't expect us to win on Saturday beforehand. "But we started fast, which was what we needed. Freemo's [Tommy Freeman] try in the first minutes set the tone and we were on a par with them [Leinster] from that point forward. "The last moments [of the match] were agonising... but we did it. Fantastic." The final, which will be played at the 74,500-capacity Principality Stadium on 24 May (14:45 BST kick-off), will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Northampton and the BBC Sounds app. Follow Northamptonshire news on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram and X. The Canyon Club resort near Austin is rising

The for-purchase vacation home community is intended for second- and third-home owners. Included with this report is a list of the most active custom homebuilders in the Austin metro. The latest luxury residential resort planned to rise on the shores of the Colorado River — called The Canyon Club — already has infrastructure in place and the first model home finished. The for-purchase vacation home community is intended for second- and third-home owners, said Robert Brown, who leads The Canyon Club developer Prasso Ventures along with Troy Cohen and Brandon Gossett. In addition to the completed infrastructure and initial model home, Austin-based Icon Technology Inc. is already 3D-printing a home — available for fractional purchase — at the development ahead of the sales launch in May. 'We have a pretty good leg up on our competitors in that we have roads ins,' Brown said. 'We have finished lots, which means all of the utilities are there. We have water, power in the ground, fiber … and one home that's completed.' Check out this list of the most active custom homebuilders in the metro That's one traditionally built home out of 20 that will be built that way in the development, which is located at 122 Shoreline Road north of Spicewood. Those homes will have floor plans ranging from five to six bedrooms and start at $2.6 million. Mark Richardson Architects designed the traditionally built homes as well as the development's public buildings. Icon's offerings, announced in mid-April, will be five homes starting at $400,000 per share of fractional ownership. Fractional ownership is a concept similar to timeshares, but Brown said it differs in that buyers become actual part owners instead of just purchasing time at the property. 'Your share can appreciate (in value) and you can sell it,' Brown said. 'You can list your share on the MLS. You can actually get out, as opposed to a timeshare where you don't actually own real estate.' expand Icon's 3D-printed homes at The Canyon Club will be available for fractional purchase. The Canyon Club Each share of the home will include one-eighth of the property and six weeks of usage. Brown said more than one share can be purchased by a single owner. Because the development is targeted toward second- and third-home owners, he said fractional ownership makes sense for people occupying the homes for vacation five to six weeks a year. The public buildings that Mark Richardson Architects designed include a spa, clubhouse, dining area and entrance, according to a Mark Richardson representative. Other amenities at The Canyon Club include a resort-style pool, event barn, boat dock, private beach, playground, natural amphitheater and courts for pickleball, tennis and basketball. The amenities are set to begin construction in fall 2025.
