Commissioners approve Dupont grant application
Apr. 8—OTTAWA — The Putnam County Board of Commissioners approved a measure to submit an application to the Ohio Development Services Agency for up to $750,000 in Neighborhood Revitalization Grant funds during its regular meeting Tuesday at the Putnam County Courthouse.
The application, commissioners said, is related to projects in the village of Dupont that are unrelated to damage from the April 2 tornado. Dupont Mayor Robert Heidenescher said that the village has applied unsuccessfully for funds before, but the hope is that the village will be able to fund three community improvement projects if the money is allocated.
"Number one is to build a new community center," he said during a phone interview. "Number two is we're going to do improvements at the little league ball diamond, and the third project is a canoe launch down along the Auglaize River."
Commissioners also passed measures allocating Community Development Block Grant and revolving loan fund money totaling $140,000 to the Putnam County Historical Museum in Kalida to fund the construction and installation of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant improvements, including a wheelchair ramp.
