Daniel Keezer sentenced to 35 years for fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Bemidji man
Apr. 25—BEMIDJI — A Mahnomen man has been sentenced to 35 years for his role in the fatal stabbing of Bemidji 18-year-old Andrew Fisher in June 2023.
Daniel Keezer, 21, was sentenced Friday, April 25, to 420 months, with credit for 671 days of time served after
pleading guilty on March 4
to a charge of second-degree murder with intent — not premeditated.
His accomplices, Robert Keezer, 24, and James Burnette, 27,
were sentenced March 25
on amended charges of first-degree aggravated robbery after they both initially pleaded guilty, also on March 4, to charges of aiding and abetting.
The sentencing comes after
police responded to reports
of a physical altercation on June 24, 2023, along Minnesota Court in Bemidji. Officers discovered a man, later identified as Fisher, bleeding profusely from multiple puncture wounds.
Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene. Through the investigation, law enforcement learned that Daniel Keezer, along with Robert Keezer and Burnette, had lured Fisher to a house on Minnesota Court with the intent to rob him.
Robert Keezer and Burnette admitted in court that they both aided in robbing Fisher, according to a release from Beltrami County Attorney David Hanson.
Robert Keezer was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with credit for 640 days of time served. Burnette was sentenced to 176 months, nearly 15 years, with credit for 640 days of time served.
All three men will carry out their sentences at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.
