Attention, Valerie Cherish Stans! ‘The Comeback' Is, Well, Coming Back
As if new the new Lorde album weren't enough, this particular Friday yielded even more good news: the long-awaited third season of Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King's cult-classic HBO comedy The Comeback is coming. The show is set to resume filming later this summer, with the new season slated to air sometime in 2026. Watch the first teaser below:
There's not a ton to be gleaned from this 60-second promo for the show, but so far I can attest that 1) Lisa Kudrow has aged better than anyone else in Hollywood (with the possible exception of Meryl Streep), 2) Kudrow's washed-up actress character Valerie Cherish's new show will be known as How's That?, which is up there with her first sitcom, I'm It, in terms of having a terrible-slash-great Hollywood title, and 3) thank God, Laura Silverman is back as Jane, Valerie's long-suffering reality producer, who won an Oscar for a documentary about 'lesbians during the Holocaust' that she now uses as a doorstop at her isolated compound outside LA, where she smokes weed and makes goat butter. (Yes, I'm jealous—of the lifestyle, not the Oscar.)
I pray that Valerie's husband Mark (Damian Young)—better known as 'Marky Mark' or 'Loveball'—and, of course, her esteemed hairstylist and longtime companion Mickey (Robert Michael Morris) will be returning for Season 3 of The Comeback, too, but then again, who am I to make demands? I'm just so, so happy that this wonderful, weird little show is returning now that I, too, live in Los Angeles and am actually in a position to understand its various in-jokes about power lunches at the Ivy and going shopping on Montana.
