3 men charged after officers find fentanyl and loaded gun during Clarksburg traffic stop
CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — Three men, including a key witness in an ongoing murder trial, were charged after officers found a loaded firearm and fentanyl during a traffic stop in Clarksburg.
On Feb. 25, officers with the Clarksburg Police Department observed a vehicle in the area of E Main Street 'with a break light that was not functional,' according to a criminal complaint.
When the vehicle turned onto Monticello Avenue, officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the vehicle's occupants, identified as Robert Rehnert, 45; Richard Dodd, 42; and Branden Landis, 25, officers said.
A K-9 unit was deployed to perform a free-air sniff in the area of the vehicle which resulted in a positive indication for the presence of narcotics and led to officers performing a search, according to the complaint.

In the search, officers located a loaded firearm, which had a round chambered and the hammer back, as well as methamphetamine, a substance which field-tested positive for fentanyl, Xylazine and cash 'in denominations consistent with the sale/delivery of controlled substances,' officers said.
Rehnert, Dodd and Landis have been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. They are each being held in North Central Regional Jail.
Rehnert, who is a key witness in the murder trial for Allen Schaffer happening in Harrison County this week, testified at the trial less than 24 hours after his arrest.
