On Saturday, the origination honored reporter and friend of ours, Robert Smith Jr., with the Coffee County Branch NAACP Image Award for his coverage of the Shiloh community
They presented Robert with the award during the 19th annual freedom fund banquet. The Image Award honors outstanding performances and coverage in film, television, theatre, music, and literature.
Robert has covered the constant flooding in Shiloh over the past few years.
Shiloh is a community in coffee county that has been pleading for the state's help to fix flooding issues seen in the area
However, the state has refused and it forced leaders to go to D.C. and to environmental justice advocate Dr. Robert Bullard for help. With Robert's help they brought this issue into a national spotlight.
The community's most recent plight is problem's with the state's right-of-way.
