Linkin Park Is Only Competing With Its Own Record On The Charts

Linkin Park continues to prove its dominance at rock radio decades after the first hit was produced. That's a huge accomplishment, as so many acts that score big successes on the radio waves don't hold on for long – and they usually can't continue to land massive smashes more than 20 years later. Thanks to the incredible success of "Up From the Bottom," Linkin Park not only scores a new No. 1 on a very important ranking, but the band even manages to break two of its own records. "Up From the Bottom" rises from No. 4 to No. 1 on Billboard's Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, giving Linkin Park another major radio smash. The track fronts the upcoming deluxe edition of From Zero, the full-length project the band released in the fall of 2024. That album marked Linkin Park's first major comeback effort following the death of frontman Chester Bennington, and it was an immediate commercial triumph. Now, with "Up From the Bottom" racing to the top, the group extends the winning streak it kicked off several months ago. With "Up From the Bottom," Linkin Park claims its eighth No. 1 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. Even more impressive than the total number is the fact that the new smash becomes the group's fifth consecutive leader on the ranking. Linkin Park previously (and fairly recently) topped the chart with "Lost," "Friendly Fire," "The Emptiness Machine," and "Heavy Is the Crown." That four-single streak had already set a new record for the most consecutive No. 1s on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. Now, the band extends its own stretch with a fifth straight win. In addition to collecting another No. 1, Linkin Park also breaks yet another of its own records thanks to how quickly "Up From the Bottom" storms the summit. The tune bolts to No. 1 in just its third week on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. That's a shockingly short period for any composition to reach the top. Radio-based rankings typically move much more slowly, as they are powered by DJ and programmer decisions rather than fan-driven consumption. Linkin Park almost ties its own all-time record here. Last year, the group's single "The Emptiness Machine," the lead offering from the original From Zero release, raced to No. 1 in just its second week on the tally. That cut ended up leading the list for 15 weeks.

Linkin Park Makes History With Another No. 1 In 'Up From The Bottom'

Linkin Park's 'Up From the Bottom' rises to No. 1 on Billboard's Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, ... More becoming the band's Green Day-tying eighth chart-topper on the ranking. (Photo by Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic) Linkin Park's comeback has been going spectacularly ever since the band started rolling out new music in late 2024. The rock outfit's latest push comes just ahead of the deluxe edition of From Zero, and the lead single from that project has been certified a true radio smash. This week, 'Up From the Bottom' becomes an almost-instant champion on a highly competitive tally, which would be unusual, except for the fact that both fans and radio programmers are still eager for more from the massively popular rock favorites. 'Up From the Bottom' climbs all the way to No. 1 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, Billboard's ranking of the most successful tracks across all rock-leaning stations in the U.S. That's as far from the bottom as a song can get, and it shows just how hungry audiences are for new Linkin Park material. This frame, the cut jumps from fourth place to the summit. It didn't take long for 'Up From the Bottom' to conquer rock radio. The single blasts to the peak position in its third week on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. That's a rapid ascent that only the biggest names in the genre can manage. According to Billboard, the track's total radio audience impressions surged by 28% from the previous frame, helping push it to the top rung. With this latest chart-topper, Linkin Park has now scored a total of eight No. 1s on the Rock & Alternative Airplay ranking. That's enough to tie the band with Green Day for the second-most leaders in the roster's history. Only Foo Fighters, with 11, have managed more. Linkin Park first hit No. 1 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart back in 2009 with 'New Divide.' The band returned the following year with 'The Catalyst,' and then again in 2012 with 'Burn It Down.' After that, it was nearly a decade before the band returned to the summit — but once it did, the wins started coming quickly. Since reigniting its radio success streak, Linkin Park hasn't missed. The group's last five singles sent to rock and alternative radio — including 'Up From the Bottom' — have all climbed to No. 1. That recent run also includes 'Lost,' 'Friendly Fire,' 'The Emptiness Machine' and 'Heavy Is the Crown,' with the last two featured on the original edition of From Zero.

Linkin Park's New Single Scores A Very Rare Feat On A Billboard Chart

Linkin Park's 'Up From the Bottom' debuts at No. 2 on Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, earning one ... More of the strongest radio launches in recent memory. (Photo by Joern Pollex/Redferns) Linkin Park is back with another huge hit, and this time, the group is climbing the charts in ways that are a little unexpected — even for a band with a history of dominating Billboard rankings. As the band prepares the deluxe edition of From Zero, the rock outfit's latest single 'Up From the Bottom' is already a win on the airwaves. The track is performing well when it comes to both sales and streaming, which isn't shocking for a group with such a passionate fanbase, but its fast rise on the radio is what sets this latest smash apart from so many other singles. 'Up From the Bottom' becomes a success story across a number of rock-focused radio formats as it arrives. The tune debuts on three of Billboard's genre-specific airplay rankings tied to the rock world, and it starts high on all of them. Most notably, it opens at No. 2 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. That's an incredibly rare feat for a new single, and it shows that radio programmers were more than ready to support new material from the band. The only song that keeps Linkin Park from scoring yet another No. 1 on this particular ranking – at least for the moment – is 'Messy' by Lola Young, which holds in the top spot. It's not uncommon for a superstar act in any genre to debut at No. 1 on a Billboard chart that measures either sales or streaming. Those lists are powered entirely by fans, and when a highly-anticipated release arrives, the most dedicated listeners tend to show up in droves. But radio is a different beast. Airplay rankings rely on a coordinated effort between promotion teams and station programmers nationwide. A debut anywhere in the top 10 on a genre-specific radio tally is a major win, and it doesn't happen too often. Starting at No. 2 is exceedingly rare, and it makes Linkin Park's latest triumph that much more impressive. With 'Up From the Bottom,' Linkin Park adds yet another big win to its already-lengthy list of radio smashes. The single becomes the band's eleventh top 10 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. Including this new hit, the group has now landed on that specific list 19 times. 'Up From the Bottom' also debuts at No. 19 on the Alternative Airplay chart and No. 17 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay tally. The group has sent 34 tracks to the former and 28 to the latter throughout the years. 'Up From the Bottom' isn't just a hit on airwaves. It's also performing well across several other Billboard rankings that measure consumption in other ways. This week, the tune appears inside the top 10 on both the Rock Digital Song Sales and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts. It also enjoys a lofty entry point across all of Billboard's hard rock-focused lists. 'Up From the Bottom' opens at No. 2 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs tally, starts at No. 9 on Hard Rock Streaming Songs, and rockets to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart.

Evanescence Scores Its First Hit In Years, With Help From Netflix

Evanescence returns to the Billboard charts with 'Afterlife,' which debuts on two rock airplay ... More charts while 'Bring Me to Life' and Fallen continue to thrive. (Photo by Mauro PIMENTEL / AFP) (Photo by MAURO PIMENTEL/AFP via Getty Images) Evanescence doesn't drop new music all that often these days, so when a track does finally arrive, it's rather exciting for fans. The Grammy-winning rock band was once a mainstay on the charts, back when hits like "Bring Me to Life" and 'My Immortal' were inescapable. In more recent years, it's become clear the group is in no rush to dominate the market, choosing instead to release songs sporadically. The hard rockers are back on the Billboard charts thanks to a new single titled "Afterlife." It's the band's first proper release in a few years, and even though it's not a blockbuster just yet, a win is a win, and fans seem to be into the cut. "Afterlife" opens on a pair of rock-focused Billboard rankings this frame, kicking off what could become a lengthy run for the track. While it didn't generate enough streams or sales to land on charts centered around those metrics, it has managed to break through at radio, at least a little. The tune debuts at No. 38 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, which ranks the most-played tracks at 'mainstream' rock radio stations – which can mean 'harder' – across the U.S. At the same time, it barely finds a home on the Rock & Alternative Airplay tally, coming in at No. 50. "Afterlife" brings Evanescence back to the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart for the first time since 2021. Back then, "Better Without You" climbed as high as No. 20. That cut marked the third time the band had reached the ranking, so this latest debut brings the group's total number of appearances to just four — a surprisingly low figure, given how massive the band once was. Over on the Mainstream Rock Airplay list, Evanescence has been more successful. "Afterlife" becomes the band's twelfth song to land on that genre-specific tally. For now, "Afterlife" appears to be a standalone single. It's not tied to an upcoming album or EP, at least not yet. According to a social media post from the band, the tune was recorded specifically for the Netflix animated series Devil May Cry. It's featured in episodes six and seven of the show, according to the group. While "Afterlife" is just getting started, another Evanescence hit continues to perform remarkably well more than two decades after it first dropped. "Bring Me to Life," the cut that launched the band to superstardom, is still present on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. This week, the single holds steady at No. 15 as it celebrates its 250 turns on the ranking. Evanescence also manages one placement on a Billboard albums chart this frame. Fallen, the band's massive breakout full-length, improves slightly on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. It rises from No. 22 to No. 19, gaining a bit of ground, and excitement around "Afterlife" may be to thank.

Ozzy Osbourne Charts Yet Another Career Top 10 Smash

Ozzy Osbourne scores his twenty-third top 10 solo hit on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with ... More 'Gods of Rock and Roll,' a new team-up with Billy Morrison and Steve Stevens. Ozzy Osbourne has been working in the rock world for decades – well over half a century at this point – and while retirement may be on the horizon, he's not done just yet. The heavy metal icon continues to release new music, and even score hits. He earns yet another smash on the radio in America, thanks to a recently-released team-up that's been building momentum throughout much of 2025. Now. it's become another big winner for Osbourne and his frequent collaborators. Osbourne's current single 'Gods of Rock N' Roll' breaks into the top 10 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart this frame. The tune lifts from No. 11 to No. 10, reaching the highest tier on the ranking after a steady climb. The cut is credited to Billy Morrison, Steve Stevens, and Osbourne, with Morrison leading the charge on the release. As 'Gods of Rock N' Roll' reaches the top 10, Osbourne adds to his total number of huge wins. He's now claimed 23 top 10 hits on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart as a solo artist. Among those are four No. 1s, and he's landed on the tally 41 times throughout his career. At this point, more than half of his solo entries have made it into the uppermost region. The Mainstream Rock Airplay chart tracks the most-played tracks on rock radio stations across the U.S. that lean toward the harder side of the genre — a space where Osbourne has always thrived, and one that he even helped develop. As 'Gods of Rock N' Roll' ascends on one rock-focused ranking, it's falling on another. This frame, the song slips from No. 20 to No. 23 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. That's the only other Billboard tally where the single currently appears. 'Gods of Rock N' Roll' has charted on both the Mainstream Rock Airplay and Rock & Alternative Airplay lists for nearly the same amount of time. The track has now racked up eight weeks on the former, compared to seven on the latter. It's worth highlighting that the composition is still gaining ground on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, even after nearly two months. It's spent the most time on that list, and yet it's ascent is ongoing, while it's already turned around on the roster where it's spent the least amount of time. For now, 'Gods of Rock N' Roll' appears to be a standalone release led by Morrison. It follows 'Crack Cocaine,' a 2024 single that also featured both Stevens and Osbourne. That tune climbed all the way to No. 2 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, narrowly missing out on becoming a No. 1 smash.
