Authorities in Illinois have charged former Rock Island County Court Services administrative assistant Leisa Streeter with theft, theft of government property, forgery, money laundering, and three counts of official misconduct. After she retired in June 2024, the county's Probation and Treasurer's Departments noticed financial irregularities in her department. Authorities claim she opened a fraudulent bank account in 2003 under "Rock Island County VIP" to siphon funds, which she spent on food, entertainment, travel, and loan payments, averaging about $43,000 annually. RICO Sheriff's Office investigates death of person found injured in Milan
The death of an unidentified person found early Saturday is being investigated by the Rock Island County Sheriff's Department, according to a news release. Shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, Rock Island County deputies responded to the 5100 block of Airport Road, Milan, 'for a subject lying in the roadway,' the release says. Deputies found a person lying in the roadway 'with significant injuries.' The person was transported to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, then later was transported to University Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, where the person 'succumbed to their injuries.' Vehicle debris was located at the scene, but no vehicle was found in the immediate area, the release says. The Rock Island County Sheriff's Office – which was assisted by Milan Police, Moline Police, Blackhawk Fire Department, and AMT Ambulance – is investigating the incident .
