RPD gang unit raids home, finds firearms and a stolen car

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Demarland Rollins, 21, Marquice Rollins, 18, and two juveniles during a weapons raid on Thursday. Around 10:45 a.m., officers searched a duplex in the 400 block of 11th Street. Authorities found the suspects outside the home and took them into custody. Officials found a stolen Volkswagen, a loaded pistol, ammunition and cannabis. Demarland Rollins was wanted on unrelated warrants and was charged with a domestic violence incident on May 27th. Marquice Rollins is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm without a FOID and illegal possession of ammunition without a FOID. Rockford police raid home of accused US Post Office robber

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A man faces charges after robbing a Rockford post office on Tuesday, according to police. Around 3:02 p.m., Anthony Johnson, 58, reportedly walked into the United States Post Office, at 1140 Broadway, carrying a handgun, and demanded cash from the clerk. After taking the cash, Johnson fled, but was identified by Rockford Police Detectives and U.S. Postal Inspectors. On Wednesday afternoon, authorities raided Johnson's home in an attempt to catch him. During the search, Johnson is said to have fled into a neighboring apartment, but was apprehended by detectives. Johnson has been charged with two counts of Armed Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, and Criminal Trespass to a Residence. Rockford woman strangles victim, puts holes in walls: Police

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Jkai Morris, 21, for allegedly strangling a woman, among other charges. On May 21, around 6 p.m., officers were called to the 1100 block of Irving Avenue for reports of domestic battery. The argument started when Morris yelled at a child in the apartment, according to court records. The victim told authorities that the situation escalated when the suspect broke the bathroom door and shattered the glass stove door. Morris proceeded to threaten the victim's life, take her phone, strangle her and push her into the bedroom wall. The wall was damaged because of the altercation. The woman had visible injuries, police reported. Morris is charged with domestic battery that caused physical contact, aggravated domestic battery that caused strangulation, interfering with reporting domestic violence and criminal property damage. ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A 16-year-old was arrested Tuesday after Rockford Police responded to reports of a teen with a gun on E. State Street. Around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, officers were called to the 4400 block of E. State for a report of an armed subject. The teen was detained and found to be in possession of a loaded gun that had been reported stolen, a large capacity magazine, and a bottle of Xanax. The teen was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a weapon without a valid Firearm Owner's Identification, and possession of a controlled substance.
