Once they arrived on the scene, officials reported seeing heavy fire coming from the back of a two-story duplex.
People were said to be home at the time of the fire and both were able to evacuate the building with one of the residents appearing to get hurt in the incident
The injured resident was then taken by a private vehicle to the hospital to be treated for burns to the forearm that they suffered while trying to put the fire out.
Officials say the fire was brought under control in under an hour with crews having a difficult time extinguishing the fire due to the building's unique layout and numerous enclosed spaces throughout the second-floor apartment and the attic.
