Two dead after head-on collision in Licking County
NEWARK, Ohio (WCMH) – Two people are dead after a head-on collision Sunday night in Licking County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Granville Post responded to a crash at 6:23 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 13 and Hupp Road, south of Newark in Licking County.

Troopers reported that a 2021 Toyota Highlander and a 2002 Ford Mustang had collided on SR-13. Rory Hiltner, 68, of Newark, was reportedly driving the Toyota northbound while Rocky Smith, 42, of Thornville, was traveling south in the Ford when Smith drove left of center and struck Hiltner in the northbound lanes.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene and multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Licking County Sheriff's Office, the Heath Fire Department, Licking Township Fire Department and the Licking County Coroner's office are still investigating the crash.
