Arrest made in Miami hit-and-run that killed grandma steps from her home
A man accused in a Miami hit-and-run crash that killed a 76-year-old woman across the street from her Liberty City apartment has been arrested, according to police.
Koritza Ortiz was crossing Northwest 7th Avenue and 60th Street on Monday morning around 8 a.m. when a driver hit her and fled the scene, Miami police said.
Using surveillance video from the area, they were able to identify the white SUV that struck Ortiz. Witnesses were able to give police a description of the driver.
Police were able to identify the driver as 33-year-old Rodrick Davis Jr. He was taken into custody early Wednesday morning.
