SARIKEI (April 23): The Sarikei District Council has relocated the Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) garbage bin from Hua Ee Road to a more optimal and strategically chosen site at the junction of Pasi/Meradong Road to improve environmental cleanliness and community welfare.
According to Sarikei District Council chairman Wong Kie Yong, the new location now accommodates two RoRo bins.
'This relocation is based on feedback from residents and an evaluation by the Council's technical team, aiming to ensure efficient solid waste management without compromising public comfort and safety.
'The move is also expected to reduce illegal dumping in this area, which has been a hotspot for bulk waste disposal,' he said.
RoRo bins have been placed at several other locations, including Jalan Hua Tai, Jalan Merudu, Simpang Sare, Taman Selera Baji Jaya, Jalan Pisang Emas (Kampung Seberang), Taman Susur Jambu Shops, Simpang Jalan Pasi/Meradong, BDC Jalan Industri, Simpang Jalan Bulat Lama, Rumah Sembelih Jalan Kwong Ming, Simpang Sungai Sebanyak and Jalan Repok.
Wong reminded residents that RoRo bins are intended only for bulk and garden waste, such as old furniture and daily domestic refuse.
'Hazardous materials, e-waste, and animal carcasses must not be disposed of in these bins,' he said.
He urged residents to follow the guidelines and use the facilities responsibly to safeguard community cleanliness and health.
For inquries or to report illegal dumping, residents can contact the Public Health and Urban Services Division at 084-651201/651202 or via the official Council website at lead Roll-On Roll-Off garbage bin Sarikei District Council Wong Kie Yong
