Popular swap meet canceled due to possible ICE activity
The popular Whittier Swap Meet, which normally takes place every Sunday, was canceled this week due to possible ICE activity.
Event officials confirmed the closure on Facebook and sent an email out to vendors, although some didn't receive it in time and still showed up to the California High School parking lot to set up, only to be told to leave.
'It's sad that we're living like this,' said Whittier Swap Meet vendor Roman Romano. 'I've never lived through something like this where people are living in fear because they have to watch out for ICE.'
The hundreds of vendors who gather at CalHi each weekend are hopeful that they can resume the meet next Sunday.
