Vancouver brand Smash + Tess pops up at Surrey's Guildford Town Centre

On through May 19, the Centre Court pop-up marks the first retail pop-up partnership for the Surrey shopping centre. For Freeborn, the pop-up represents an important opportunity for people to touch and try on the direct-to-consumer brand's wares in-person — and also feel good.

'Whether people buy something or they don't buy anything, I want them to leave feeling like a million bucks,' says Freeborn. 'Yes, we want them to touch the clothes, we want them to feel the clothes, but it's also just a super-positive, uplifting space.'

The brand behind the 'Romper Revolution,' Smash + Tess is also known for its design partnerships, which have included collabs with Canadian TV star Kaitlyn Bristowe, body positivity influencer Sarah Nicole Landry of @TheBirdsPapaya and others.

Perhaps one of the buzziest continuing collaborations for the brand has been with Jillian Harris. The Kelowna-based entrepreneur and former TV star will appear at the pop-up shop on May 4 to help launch her latest collection with the brand called Garden Party.

'It's an exclusive opportunity to shop Jillian Harris before it goes online,' Freeborn says of the ticketed shopping night. 'We always know it sells out like that … I assume it will be gone pretty quickly.'
