MPD says speeds reached 100 MPH before driver crashed into pole, ran before arrest
HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Police arrested an Elizabethtown man after he allegedly drove at 100 MPH before crashing into a light pole, flipping and running from officers.
The Madisonville Police Department state on Thursday at about 7:47 a.m., officers saw a blue Ford Escape traveling north on I-69, quickly changing lanes and forcing other vehicles to get out of the way while going upwards of 100 MPH.
Officials state the vehicle exited before colliding with a light pole and catching on fire after flipping over and landing.

The driver was later identified as Ronald Mckenzie, and he allegedly jumped a barbed wire fence and fleeing on foot. Officials say a K9 unit arriving and was deployed, and Mckenzie stopped and started to comply after being warned of a pending K9 release.
Mckenzie was able to be taken into custody after a brief struggle.
He was taken to the Hopkins County Jail after being medically cleared for possible injuries, facing several charges including speeding, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police and wanton endangerment.
