Rod Stewart reveals staggering cost of Glastonbury set as his kids had to buy own tickets

More info Glastonbury Festival is undeniably the single most important event in the UK music calendar, and some of the most unforgettable moments in its 50-year history have come from the Sunday night "Legends slot." Over the years, we've seen stars such as Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Kylie Minogue delighting audiences with their hit-packed performances, and 2025 will be no exception, with Sir Rod Stewart gracing the iconic Pyramid Stage. This won't be Rod's first Glasto performance – he previously headlined the festival in 2002, sharing the bill with Coldplay and Stereophonics – but this summer's performance promises to be something special. (Image: undefined via Getty Images) Speaking to the BBC's Sidetracked with Annie and Nick, the veteran rocker revealed that he'll be splashing out around £300,000 of his own money for his Sunday afternoon show. He also mentioned that – as performers aren't given a guest list – three of his eight children will be purchasing their own tickets to what could potentially be the 80-year-old star's final major festival performance. While it's unclear exactly how much Sir Rod will be paid for his Glastonbury gig, it's known that headliners at the festival rarely earn more than around £250,000. Festival organiser Emily Eavis has stated that Glasto headliners receive less than 10% of what they would typically make at other festivals. A significant portion of the cost will be dedicated to transporting his band and their gear from California, USA. They'll all be lodging in a hotel in Bath for the weekend, and according to Rod, he's eagerly anticipating a lively weekend with his bandmates. (Image: undefined via Getty Images) In addition to his regular band, which includes guitarist Don Kirkpatrick, long-time bassist Conrad Kirsch and violinist J'anna Jacoby, Sir Rod has announced he will reunite with his former Faces bandmate – and current Rolling Stone – Ronnie Wood. He also revealed plans to have a "small orchestra on stage" with him for his ballads, such as Tonight's the Night and I Don't Want to Talk About only 75 minutes of performance time, Sir Rod acknowledged it will be challenging to fit in all of his classic hits. He intends to keep his between-song chatter to a minimum, so he can squeeze in as many of the classics as possible, although he'll pause for the occasional sip of Bacardi and Coke: "It's the only thing I drink," he explained, "and I only drink it when I do gigs. " (Image: undefined via Getty Images) Sir Rod confessed that he doesn't see old mates like Ronnie Wood and Sir Elton John as frequently as he did in the Seventies and Eighties, because "they don't drink and I still do. They stay away from me... bad influence!" But Sir Rod, who has sold some 200 million records over his decades-long career, will need to take care of his own health too. He recently had to cancel a Las Vegas show due to a throat infection. While he has no plans to retire, Rod confirmed his 2025 European and North American shows would mark the end of his "large-scale world tours," with future performances to be held at more intimate venues. Sir Rod has no intention of hanging up his microphone, with a new album featuring collaborations with Rod and former Faces bandmates Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones set for release in 2026. Speaking to music journalist Craig McLean, Sir Rod revealed that they have "15 tracks that are extremely worthy, some old, some new" already assured fans, "We will get it finished, I promise," and confidently stated, "No other band sounds like us. ".

Sir Rod Stewart cancels gig hours before he's due on stage due to illness

The Maggie May singer said he isn't feeling well. Sir Rod Stewart has had to cancel his performance tonight just hours before he's set to take to the stage. The 80-year-old singer was due to be gigging at the The Colosseum at Caesars Place but has had to cancel due to being ill. Announcing the news on Instagram, Rod told fans: "I am sorry to inform you that I'm not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10. Your tickets will be valid for the new date. Sir Rod." ‌ This is not the first time Sir Rod has had to cancel his Vegas shows as last summer he was forced to cancel a string of tour dates including his milestone 200th Las Vegas residency show. Rod's team said he had to miss the milestone show due to 'recovering from a summer strain of Covid-19. ‌ The Celtic-daft singer was set to bring his The Hits show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace to a close after performing at the venue across the last 13 years. However, Sir Rod withdrew hours before what was meant to be his last show at the venue, saying he was "desperately sorry". Just last week, Rod made a huge announcement about his Glastonbury performance that he will be joined on stage by his Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood. ‌ The rockstar is filling the coveted legends slot at the Worthy Farm festival, with headliners The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo and Neil Young also set to play over the course of the five-day event. Faces, who are best known for hits including Stay With Me, formed in 1969 following the split of Small Faces. The band was made up of bassist Ronnie Lane, keyboard player Ian McLagan, drummer Kenney Jones, Ronnie Wood on guitar and Sir Rod on lead vocals. When asked if he keeps in contact with The Rolling Stones' members and 'other people in music' whilst starring on That Peter Crouch Podcast, Sir Rod replied: "Not really. Woody (Wood) I do a lot, just recently, because we're going to do Glastonbury together. Elton, sometimes, you know, birthdays, but nowhere near how we used to. ‌ "I think probably because he doesn't drink anymore, and Woody doesn't drink, and I still do. They stay away from me. Bad influence." He also told the podcast: "I've done it (Glastonbury) before. I did it in 2002 but this is on the legend stage. ‌ "I was only supposed to play for an hour and a quarter, but I've asked them 'Please, another 15 minutes' because I play for over two hours every night and it's nothing, but yeah, looking forward to it." Sir Rod's Glastonbury legends slot will kick off at the traditional teatime on Sunday June 29, although the exact time is not confirmed until the complete timetable is officially announced by organiser Emily Eavis,. ‌ While the headliners and the majority of performers for this year's festival have now been confirmed, many fans have been left wondering who the secret set might be after Kasabian's memorable appearance last year. Speculated contenders are Mumford & Sons, Green Day, Sam Fender, The Cure and US rockers HAIM, but it's anyone's guess at this stage. Faces released four studio albums and toured regularly up until the band split in 1975 and Sir Rod went on to pursue his successful solo career. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! HUGE band are set to reunite at Glastonbury for iconic Legends slot after confirming they are making a new album together

Sir Rod Stewart is planning a mini-reunion with his band Faces when he takes to the stage for Glastonbury 's Legends slot next month. Ronnie Wood, who is a close friend of the Maggie May hitmaker and performed alongside him in the 70s, is heading to Worthy Farm for a performance. Rod himself shared the news during an interview on The Peter Crouch podcast, after he was asked whether he's kept in touch with the Rolling Stones or Sir Elton John. He replied: 'Not really, but Woody and I do a lot just recently because we are going to do Glastonbury together.' When asked why they lost touch, Rod said it was because Ronnie and Elton had quit booze, saying: 'I think they stay away from me.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Rod was tight-lipped when asked whether Faces drummer Kenney Jones will be joining them on-stage. However, the music legend confirmed in November that he had reunited with his Faces bandmates for a new album. Speaking on the Soccer A-Z podcast, Rod said: 'I'm meeting up with the last two members of the Faces tomorrow, and we're working on a documentary, because next year will be our 50th anniversary, or 60s. 'I don't know what it is, but when the faces were together, and we're trying to put out an album. So I shall be with Mr. Woods and Mr. Jones.' Rod and Ronnie have been friends since 1969 when they were both members of rock group Faces. Although the band parted ways in 1975, the pair kept in touch, with Rod serving as best man to Ronnie's wedding to Sally in 2012. The Faces - which formed in 1969 - released their final album Ooh La La in 1973, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2012. The five-piece band formed in 1969 and also included bassist Ronnie Lane, who died in 1997 after battling with multiple sclerosis, and keyboardist Ian McLagan, who died last December following a stroke. Famous for huge hits such as Stay With Me in 1971 and Ooh La La in 1973, the long-haired rockers also gained a reputation for their off-stage antics involving alcohol, groupies and wrecked hotel rooms. But with Ronnie departing from the band in 1975 to become a full-time member of the Rolling Stones, Rod eventually dissolved the group officially at the end of that year. The group previously reunited in 2015, with Rod saying at the time: 'Getting back on stage with the lads playing Stay with Me and other favourites will be a blast and will make this a very special night. 'Being in The Faces was a mad and brilliant time for all of us and although we don't have Ronnie and Mac with us anymore this is our chance to remember them and say Had Me a Real Good Time.' Kenney added: 'The years of The Faces were some of the best of my life and I'm so proud to have been a part of the band. The original members were set to reunite for their 2012 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Rod was forced to pull out of the gig when he came down with the flu.

When asked why they'd lost touch, Rod said it was because neither Ronnie nor Elton drink any more, adding: 'I think they stay away from me.' Rod, above with Ronnie, hasn't revealed whether Faces drummer Kenney Jones will be coming on stage too. But the pair confirmed last month they'd made a new 11-track album. Kenney said of the songs, recorded at Rak Studios in London: 'Most of them are good. 'I can't see it coming out this year. But I can see it coming out next year. 'Everyone's doing different things. 'We do little snippets here and there. "Then all of a sudden, The Stones are out on tour again, Rod's out again.'
