Austrian M&A Guru Charged With Bribing Official With Cars, Suits
Austrian prosecutors charged investor Ronny Pecik with allegedly bribing a former finance ministry official, the latest offshoot in a sprawling corruption investigation.
The electrician turned self-made financier is accused of letting Thomas Schmid use his luxury cars and arranging for ten tailored suits, in exchange for favorable treatment from ex-Finance Minister Hans Joerg Schelling, according to a statement on Monday from anti-corruption prosecutors. They estimate the total value of the favors at €17,300 ($18,707).
