Cardiff centre Jennings signs new contract

Cardiff centre Rory Jennings has signed a new deal to stay at the Arms 29, arrived from Newcastle Falcons in the summer of 2024 and made 17 appearances during his debut season."Rory has added massive value to the club both on and off the field," said Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt."His input to our game off the field has been excellent and has brought exactly what we'd hoped for on the field."Jennings will continue to compete with Ben Thomas, while helping to bring the likes of Wales Under-20s centre Steffan Emanuel through."It was an easy decision for me to make in the end," said Jennings."We have a squad with a huge amount of talent and potential, and I have been impressed with the staff and players from the moment I joined."

'Terrible team, Championship manager' – Chelsea slaughtered by pundit after defeats

Rory Jennings has been on Talksport this weekend to talk about Chelsea's defeat to Brighton in the Premier League on Friday night – and their defeat to the same opposition a week before in the FA Cup. Very calmly, the Chelsea fan and radio pundit took apart the side he supports. When he was asked whether these were the worst results of Enzo Maresca's time as manager, Rory said no, however: 'We're a really poor team and he's an average manager… [but] we lost to Ipswich. We drew 0-0 with Sean Dyche's Everton team. We lost at home to Fulham for the first time in 50 years. Going to the Amex and losing twice in 6 days, is sort of historic for them… this isn't me protecting the performance because it was woeful, totally embarrassing. It's just a testament to quite how poor this collection of players are, that this isn't as bad as it's going to be, or as bad as its been. We are a terrible team.' You can see Jennings speaking in the clip embedded here: Jennings didn't stop there. He was asked the very interesting question about whether he would rather have kept Mauricio Pochettino – another manager he wasn't happy about. He had to admit we'd probably be better with Pochettino still around. He also laid into the players – apart from Cole Palmer, who he called 'elite', and Moises Caicedo who he said is 'excellent' – calling them 'average.' He pointed out that it was funny how much fuss was being made about Nicolas Jackson being out injured when he's just an 'average' player. As for Maresca, he called him a 'Championship manager' and said he felt sorry for him.
