Person stabbed, critically wounded on Blue Line train close to O'Hare
A person was stabbed and critically wounded on a CTA Blue Line train near O'Hare International Airport Wednesday evening.
Police in west suburban Rosemont said they were called to the Rosemont Blue Line stop, along the Kennedy Expressway near River Road, shortly after 7 p.m.
Rosemont police said they found a suspect a short distance away and detained him.
The Rosemont Fire Department also responded and took the victim to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
Rosemont police said the stabbing happened on a Chicago Transit Authority train headed east from the airport, and fell under Chicago Police Department jurisdiction.
Chicago police detectives were investigating late Wednesday, Rosemont police said. Information from Chicago police was not immediately available.
The CTA said inbound Blue Line service from O'Hare continued to experience major delays as late as just before 10 p.m. following the incident. Trains in both directions were running on one track between O'Hare and Cumberland.
