Large sinkhole opens on Manitoba road
A sinkhole has opened on a section of Road 30 NE near Rosenort, Manitoba on May 26, 2025. (Instagram: Rosenort Fire Dept.) The Rural Municipality of Morris is warning people to avoid a section of road near Rosenort due to a massive sinkhole that has opened. According to the RM's Facebook page, a section of Road 30 NE, also known as Pleasant Valley Road, has collapsed into the river between the dike and River Road South. 'This section of road is completely untravellable,' the RM said. The Rosenort Fire Department shared a photo on its Instagram page, saying the road is being washed away from underneath, and the hole is rapidly growing in size. The RM and fire department are both asking travellers to avoid the area. The RM is working on a plan to repair it. Rosenort is located roughly 63 kilometres south of Winnipeg.
