PETALING JAYA : The Kuala Terengganu sessions court has sentenced a former headmaster to 15 years in prison for sexually harassing and raping a female student. In handing down the sentence, judge Azman Mustapha said that the defence had failed to raise a reasonable doubt over the 13 charges against Rosli Abd Rahman, 60, Berita Harian reported. The 13 charges involved verbal harassment, sexual assault and rape of the victim, who was 16 years and 8 months old when the offences began. All offences were committed between November 2020 and November 2021 in Kuala Terengganu and Marang. Although the total combined jail time for the charges could have amounted to 107 years, the court ordered the sentences to run concurrently, resulting in a 15-year term. Pending appeal, the court has allowed a stay of execution of the sentence and raised Rosli's bail by RM40,000. Deputy public prosecutor Noradila Ab Latif led the prosecution, while Rosli was represented by lawyer Abdul Rahman Razak.

KUALA TERENGGANU: A former school principal was sentenced to 107 years in jail by the Sessions Court here today (June 24) after he was found guilty of 13 charges of sexual communication, physical sexual assault and rape of a student. Judge Mohd Zul Zakiquddin Zulkifli sentenced Rosli Abd Rahman, 60, after the defence failed to raise reasonable doubt. According to the charges, Rosli was accused of sexually communicating with, raping and physically sexually assaulting the victim, who was 16 years old at the time. All offences took place in the district and in Marang between November 2020 and November 2021. He was charged with five counts under Section 376(2)(f) of the Penal Code and four counts under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. He was also charged with two counts under Section 11(1)(a), one count under Section 14(c) and one count under Section 14(d) of the same act. The court sentenced him to one year in jail for the charges under Section 11(1)(a) and five years each for the charges under Sections 14(a), 14(c) and 14(d). For each charge under Section 376(2)(f), he was sentenced to 15 years in jail. The jail terms are to run from the date of conviction. The court ordered the sentences to run concurrently, so he will spend 15 years in prison. The court allowed a stay of execution pending an appeal, with bail increased by RM40,000. Deputy public prosecutor Noradila Ab Latif led the prosecution, while the accused was represented by lawyer Abdul Rahman Razak.
