Felcra manager remanded over project bribery claims
KUANTAN: A Felcra Berhad area manager has been remanded for six days to assist in investigations over allegations of soliciting and accepting bribes to facilitate the awarding of contracts to an engineering firm. The 43-year-old was brought before magistrate Rosnaida Abdul Razak at the Raub magistrate's court earlier today. According to sources, the suspect, who is attached to a Felcra scheme in Kuala Lipis, was arrested after appearing at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Raub branch office to give a statement yesterday. "The suspect is believed to have solicited and received bribes ranging between RM1,000 and RM3,000 between 2023 and last year," said the source. "The payments were allegedly made to ensure the engineering firm obtained contract work at the relevant Felcra scheme." The suspect has been remanded until May 11 for investigation under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009, which provides for a maximum imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the amount of the bribe or RM10,000 — whichever is higher — upon conviction.
