Real Madrid announces departure of defender Vallejo following contract expiry
Madrid - Saba: Real Madrid announced on Friday the departure of defender Jesús Vallejo following the expiration of his contract with the club at the end of the current 2024-2025 season. In a statement published on its official website, the Royal Club said: "Real Madrid CF announces the end of Jesús Vallejo's journey at Real Madrid." The statement added: "Real Madrid extends its gratitude to Jesús Vallejo for his professionalism, dedication, and hard work, and wishes him and his family all the best in this new chapter of his life." Vallejo, 28, joined Real Madrid from Zaragoza in 2015 but only played for Los Blancos in five seasons, making 35 appearances and scoring one goal. During his time at the club, Vallejo was loaned out five times—to Zaragoza, Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Granada (twice). With Real Madrid, Vallejo won the UEFA Champions League twice, the FIFA Club World Cup four times, the UEFA Super Cup three times, and the Spanish Super Cup twice, in addition to one La Liga title and one Copa del Rey. On the international stage, Vallejo won a silver medal with the Spanish Olympic team at the 2020 Tokyo Games and claimed the UEFA European Under-21 and Under-19 Championships. Real Madrid beat Girona 2-0 in La Liga
Madrid - Saba: Real Madrid achieved a deserved victory over its guest Girona, with two clean goals, in the match that brought them together on Sunday evening at the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium, for the 25th round of the Spanish Football League. The Royal Club owes its credit to its veteran Croatian player Luka Modric, who put it in the lead by the 41st minute of the first half, with a rocket shot that hit the Catalan club's net. Vinicius Junior almost strengthened the score in the 58th minute, but his shot hit the crossbar. But he returned and fired the mercy bullet at Girona in the 84th minute of the match, taking advantage of a pass from Kylian Mbappe. Former Real Madrid Star Marcelo Retires from Professional Football
Rana Atef Brazil's international and former Real Madrid star Marcelo Vieira da Silva announced his retirement from professional football. The Brazilian star terminated his contract with Fluminense. Marcelo said on social media: "My story as a player ends here. But I still have much to give to football. Thank you for everything." Marcelo paid tribute to his grandfather who helped him in his decision to become a footballer by taking him to training sessions every day when he was young. Forever grateful 💜 #M12 "My love for football comes from my grandfather. He wanted me to be a professional footballer and did everything possible to make it happen," he described. "At 18, Real Madrid knocked on my door, and I came here. I can now say that I am a madrileño. Here, I built a family with my wife. 16 seasons, 25 titles, 5 Champions, one of the captains, and so many magical nights at the Bernabéu. Real Madrid is a different club, and madridismo is an indescribable feeling," Marcelo revealed. He also recalled his time with the Brazilian national team and Fluminense. "Returning to Fluminense was about giving back to the club what it gave me, helping to win three titles, including the Copa Libertadores, and leaving a legacy to the young players with the Marcelo Vieira stadium." He started his career at Fluminense, however, his unforgettable run is with Real Madrid where he became the third foreign player to make the most appearances with the team. Spending 16 years with the Royal Club, he won 5 Champions Leagues, 4 World Club Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 6 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Reys, and 5 Spanish Super Cups.
