Meghan Markle breaks Megxit agreement as Duchess uses 'HRH' title on gift card

Meghan Markle has been seen using her 'HRH' title, in what seems to be a breach of the agreement made with the late Queen Elizabeth as part of the Megxit arrangements. The 43 year old Duchess sent a gift hamper to a podcast host, accompanied by a card stating: "with the compliments of HRH, Duchess of Sussex". The Duchess of Sussex featured on Jamie Kern Lima's podcast, the founder of IT Cosmetics, for her inaugural podcast interview, where she discussed various subjects including her children and her latest business venture, As Ever. The decision for Prince Harry and Meghan to relinquish their 'HRH' titles was made during the so-called "Sandringham Summit", or "Megxit" - a crucial meeting that took place on January 13, 2020, at Queen Elizabeth II's Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England. Meghan Markle joined the discussions remotely from Canada, where she resided with their son, Archie, at the time. Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, did not attend the summit, which only included the principals of the four Royal households. It was concluded at this gathering that Harry and Meghan would no longer use the 'HRH' prefix, reports the Mirror . The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have confirmed on their official website that they will retain their 'HRH' prefix, thus formally remaining known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex. However, they will no longer actively use these titles as they step back from being working members of the Royal family from Spring 2020. On January 8, the couple made a public announcement on Instagram about their decision to "step back as 'senior' members" of the British Royal family. The late Queen had released a statement at the time, expressing her support for their wish to start a new life, although she would have preferred them to remain full-time working royals. Key outcomes from the Sandringham Summit included a transition period allowing the Sussexes to split their time between the UK and Canada. This arrangement was designed to enable them to establish a more independent lifestyle while still being part of the Royal family. Harry and Meghan also expressed their intention to become financially independent, renouncing public funds and the Sovereign Grant, which previously financed their official duties. The couple agreed to stop using their "Royal Highness" titles and to relinquish official military appointments. They also stated they would no longer participate in the Royal Rota media system, aiming for greater control over their public image. During her interview, Meghan was full of admiration for her husband's support while she was starting her business and fondly looked back at the early stages of their whirlwind romance, which they initially kept secret. She reminisced about the "butterflies" at the start of their relationship but asserted that once their dating life became public, they "went into the trenches together." The Mirror has reached out to Meghan's reps for further comments.
