Stylist Roz Kaur On The Liberating Energy That Only Comes With Age
True beauty reveals itself not in spite of time, but because of it. Roz Kaur is part of a chic collective of women we celebrate in our May 2025 issue, each sharing the rituals that sustain them, the challenges that have shaped them, and what products and practices make them feel their most beautiful
Indian-born, US-based stylist Roz Kaur has spent over 20 years making women look good, first at and Anthropologie, now through her Instagram style lessons. At 58, she wears crisp white shirts with patiala pants finishing her look with her trademark glasses. Her talent lies in highlighting that the best outfits come from living, not just following trends.
What's been the most unexpected aspect of ageing?
How liberating it feels. The world often tells us to fear ageing, but in truth, it's where I found my power. The challenge has been unlearning the narratives that equate youth with worth – and rewriting them with wisdom, depth, and confidence.
How would you describe your evolution over time?
I've become softer with myself and stronger in my boundaries. I no longer chase trends or people – I stay rooted in what feels authentic. My perspective has shifted from needing to prove myself to simply wanting to be myself.
What truly defines beauty – in yourself or others?
True beauty is presence. It's when someone shows up fully as themselves – unapologetically and with grace. In myself, I feel most beautiful when I'm grounded and at ease, not trying to perform, just being.
What gives you the confidence to share your story on social media?
Because I know someone out there might need to see what confidence looks like at 58. I share so women know they're not alone, that reinvention is always possible, and that style doesn't belong to any age – it belongs to anyone with the courage to claim it.
What three beauty products can you not live without?
Aveda Damage Remedy for keeping my hair healthy – it has been a ritual for years. Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream – rest in a bottle. And the Westman Atelier foundation stick; it enhances rather than covers.
What's your signature scent?
Chanel Les Exclusifs 31 Rue Cambon. It's elegant, mysterious, and quietly commanding. It's like walking into a room and owning it without saying a word.
What beauty treatments do you love?
A good facial with lymphatic drainage, regular threading to keep my brows crisp, and dry brushing – beauty begins with circulation and care from within.
Whose style – real or fictional – has inspired you most?
Édith Piaf. There's something hauntingly beautiful about her. She was raw, expressive, and lived fully. Her voice had style and her style had soul.
What achievement or moment in your life are you proudest of?
Taking the leap to work for myself at 58. I walked away from stability to pursue passion – and it's the boldest, most fulfilling decision I've ever made.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don't shrink to make others comfortable. Every inch of you – your boldness, your softness, your style – is worthy. Keep showing up.
Your most treasured possession?
My mother's gold bangle. It holds her stories, her strength, and every time I wear it, I feel wrapped in her love.
How would you describe yourself?
Unapologetically evolving.
Describe your perfect day?
Morning tea in silence, wrapped in a robe. A long walk, maybe a vintage market stroll. An afternoon shoot where I get to play with layers and light. Evenings are for chai, music, and journaling in candlelight.
Which chapter of your life feels the most beautiful to you?
This one. Right now. Because I've never felt more like myself. And that, to me, is the most beautiful thing.
