Pakistani Clerics 'Thank Allah For The Great Victory' Against India, Pakistani Daily Says Pakistan-India War Has Revived Kashmir Issue Globally

At a conference in Karachi held on May 12, 2025, Pakistan's Islamic religious scholars have described the ceasefire between Pakistan and India as a "great victory" for Pakistan and honored the Pakistani armed forces, saying that "Pakistan has been established in the name of Islam." The next day, on May 13, an Urdu-language daily described in an editorial the short-lived war as "the revival of the Kashmir issue." The four-day Pakistan-India war (May 7-10, 2025), mainly carried out with missile and drone strikes, was triggered by a Pakistan-backed jihadi terror attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir in which 26 tourists, mostly Hindu males, were killed.[1] India retaliated by executing airstrikes at nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir.[2] The May 12 event in Karachi was billed as the Unbreakable Wall Conference. The term is a codename used by the Pakistani military to respond to India's retaliatory airstrikes. According to a report in the Urdu daily Roznama Express, religious scholars declared at the conference: "Pakistan has defeated an enemy many times greater in strength. We pay tribute to the Pakistan [armed] forces for this great success." In an editorial, Roznama Mashriq, which is published in Peshawar, remarked that the short-lived war has revived the Kashmir issue on the international stage. "Although at this time the restoration of peace and stability is naturally the foremost priority, the root cause that led to the clash between the two nuclear powers cannot be forgotten," the editorial noted. Following is the text of the Roznama Express report:[3] Indian Prime Minister Narendra "Modi Has Brought The Region To The Brink Of Destruction – If India Does Not Get Rid Of Modi, India Will Be Destroyed" "Thanks To Allah For The Great Victory; The Pak[istani] Forces Raised Our Heads High In The World: Bunyan-Um-Marsoos Conference "Modi brought this region to the brink of destruction; Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos to be remembered as [a symbol of] courage and bravery in history "[We are] united for the country's defense: Mufti Taqi Usmani, Mufti Muneeb, Rashed Soomro, Aurangzeb Farooqi, Mufti Nauman Naeem, and others "Karachi: (Staff Reporter) – Addressing the Unbreakable Wall Conference, held under the auspices of the Defense of the Country Council, religious, political leaders, and eminent ulema [Islamic religious scholars] have said that they thank Allah for the great victory. The [armed] forces of Pakistan have established their supremacy in the world. We pay tribute to the [armed] forces of Pakistan for responding to the aggression committed by India. "Pakistan has been established in the name of Islam. We are united for its defense. [Indian Prime Minister Narendra] Modi has brought the region to the brink of destruction. If India does not get rid of Modi, India will be destroyed. In the history, Operation Unbreakable Wall will be remembered as [a symbol of] courage and bravery. "These views were expressed by Shaikh-ul-Islam Mufti Taqi Usman, the Grand Mufti Pakistan; Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman; Administrator of Jamia Binoria al-Alamia Mufti Nauman Naeem; General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam for Sindh Allama Rashed Mehmood Soomro; General Secretary of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi; famous religious scholar Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Mengal; President of the Markazi Muslim League for Sindh Faisal Nadeem; religious scholar Mufti Tariq Masood; administrator of Jamia al-Darasat al-Islamia Mufti Yousaf Kashmiri; leader of Milli Yakjehti Council for Sindh Hafiz Muhammad Anwar; General Secretary Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat for Karachi Taj Muhammad Hanafi, and others." Grand Mufti Of Pakistan Mufti Taqi Usmani: "Muslims Had Long Been Engulfed In Despair. They Eagerly Awaited News Of Victory And Divine Support. Today, Every Individual In Pakistan Is Filled With Emotions Of Joy" "The conference organized at Bagh-e-Jinnah was attended by thousands of people. Mufti Taqi Usmani said [we] have gathered at the tomb of Qaed [Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah] to thank [Allah] for this great victory. "[Mufti Taqi Usmani said:] Muslims had long been engulfed in despair. They eagerly awaited news of victory and divine support. Today, every individual in Pakistan is filled with emotions of joy. India named its operation 'Sindoor' and labeled it a women-led operation. In response, Pakistan named its operation Unbreakable Wall and proved its strength. Victory is not achieved merely through material resources, but through reliance on Allah. A screenshot of the Roznama Express report "Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said that Pakistan has defeated an enemy many times greater in strength. We pay tribute to the Pakistan [armed] forces for this great success. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with their military. The few days of war have sent a message that Pakistan cannot be defeated by arrogance in weaponry. "Mufti Muhammad Nauman Naeem said: We have gathered to express solidarity with the Pakistan military. The world saw that the Pakistan military proved its ability. We all are united and will keep defending Pakistan. "Allama Rashed Mehmood Somoro said that they have gathered [to express] solidarity with Pakistan and the Pakistani [armed] forces. For the defense of Pakistan, we were united yesterday and also today and will remain standing shoulder to shoulder by the Pakistan military." Islamic Scholar Allama Liaqat Hussain Azhari: "The Issue Of Kashmir Has Been Revived; Kashmir Will Become Pakistan And India Will Fail" "Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi said that we thank Allah for granting us victory. We pay tribute to the Pakistan military. Today, people across the world accept Pakistan's ability... the Pakistan war is the war based on the ideology Medina Tayyaba [a reference to the mission beginning from the establishment of the first Islamic state in Medina, Saudi Arabia, by Muhammad, the founder of Islam]. "Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Mangal said that Muslims across the world celebrate Pakistan's victory. Allah upheld the reputation of the Pakistani [armed] forces. The students of seminaries and ulema always stood by the military and Pakistan. Faisal Nadeem said we were politically divided in Pakistan and the incidents of terrorism were taking place. "Mufti Tariq Masood said: I congratulate the entire nation on this great victory [in the war against India]. In Pakistan, we were fighting with each other, but when the enemy attacked, the entire nation stood united. The Pakistan military brought pride and raised our heads high on global stage. "Mufti Yousuf Kashmiri said that Allah granted great victory to Pakistan. Taj Muhammad Hanafi said that the Pakistan military gave a crushing defeat to the cowardly enemy. India always leveled allegations of terrorism against Pakistan and attacked in the darkness of the night [of May 6-7]. "Mufti Rafiur Rehman, leader of the Tanzeem-e-Ahle Sunnat, said that Modi's government had gravely misjudged Pakistan. Pakistan brought joy to Muslims around the world. Prominent religious scholar Allama Liaqat Hussain Azhari said that the issue of Kashmir has become revived; Kashmir will become Pakistan and India will fail." Following is the translation of the Roznama Mashriq editorial:[4] Editorial In Roznama Mashriq: "The Kashmir Issue Is A Fundamental And Serious Issue And Until This Issue Is Resolved... Lasting Peace Cannot Be Established In This Region" "The Revival of The Kashmir Issue "At a joint press conference of the representatives of the three armed forces, the DG ISPR [Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, media wing of the Pakistan Military] clearly pointed out that the recent conflict and tension between Pakistan and India have once again turned Kashmir into a flashpoint, which should be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people. "They said that the Kashmir issue is a fundamental and serious issue and until this issue is resolved according to the United Nations Security Council's resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, lasting peace cannot be established in this region. This is an external issue between Pakistan, India, and the Kashmiri people, but India is trying to turn it into an internal matter by altering the population ratio and legal status which is a violation of the United Nations' resolution and international commitments. A screenshot of the Roznama Mashriq editorial "We believe that this is a result of the tension itself, that not only has the Kashmir issue once again come before the world, but the situation reached a point where U.S. President Donald Trump also offered mediation between the two countries. Whereas before this, the Kashmir issue was always considered a bilateral dispute between the two countries at every forum. "Although at this time the restoration of peace and stability is naturally the foremost priority, the root cause that led to the clash between the two nuclear powers cannot be forgotten. The outcome of war is in front of everyone, and the truth behind both the claims of success and the state of losses will gradually be uncovered." "One Thing Is Clear: Pakistan Gave India A Fitting Response... Regardless Of Victory Or Defeat, As Long As The Fundamental Cause Of The Conflict Exists Between The Two Neighboring Countries, Peace Will Remain In Constant Danger" "However, one thing is clear: Pakistan gave India a fitting response. This is not just Pakistan's claim, but the international media also agrees with it. Regardless of victory or defeat, as long as the fundamental cause of the conflict exists between the two neighboring countries, peace will remain in constant danger. Therefore, a step forward must now be taken to bring the Kashmir dispute into serious discussion. "Even the Chief Minister of Occupied [Indian] Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, was compelled to say that they have reached a point they had never imagined — everything has changed. Pakistan has succeeded in raising the Kashmir issue. In line with Pakistan's desire, the United States was also willing to play a role in the Kashmir issue. "The chief minister of occupied Kashmir said that due to the Pak-India war, lots of things have changed and if nothing has changed it is Pakistan's plan to raise the Kashmir issue on the international level. The victims of the Pahalgam incident did not get justice, but Pakistan succeeded in raising the Kashmir issue on the international level. "A fair and non-violent solution to the Kashmir issue already has a blueprint, such as the formula proposed during [Pakistani military ruler General Pervez] Musharraf's era [which enabled Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control to travel for business and family events without passports], or some other acceptable proposal through a formula can be developed through back-channel [diplomacy], even though there will be opposition from both sides, especially from India, which has strong reservations about peace talks." "The Reality Is That A Mutually Acceptable Solution For Pakistan, India, And The Kashmiris Is The Only Hope For Long-Term Peace In South Asia" "However, the reality is that a mutually acceptable solution for Pakistan, India, and the Kashmiris is the only hope for long-term peace in South Asia. If India continues its brutality and use of violent tactics in Occupied Kashmir, peace in the region will remain at risk, while dissatisfaction among the people will continue. "All parties to the conflict need a state-level strategy and vision to ensure that the path of confrontation is abandoned in favor of mutual coexistence and peace. Once peace is restored, both states can no longer afford to waste time in resolving the lingering Kashmir issue, which remains the primary cause of instability in South Asia. April 22: Pakistan-backed jihadis killed 26 tourists, mostly Hindu males, in Kashmir "It remains to be seen to what extent India expresses its willingness to accept U.S. mediation, but outright rejection may not be easy either. It could be difficult for New Delhi to reject Washington's offer. However, if foreign intervention alone were sufficient — or if India had respected United Nations' resolutions or accepted any form of mediation — the Kashmir conflict would not have persisted for nearly eight decades. "Major decisions on Kashmir can only be made by Pakistan and India. Pakistan has once again expressed its desire for a negotiated settlement of the Kashmir issue. On the other hand, India has shown extreme rigidity. India's unlawful move in 2019 to revoke the limited autonomy [offered by Article 370 of Indian Constitution] of Occupied Kashmir is the most prominent example of the... [Modi] government's attempt to block a fair resolution of the conflict. However, the time has now come for India to seriously recognize that resolving the Kashmir issue is inevitable. It can no longer be ignored."
